Well these days if u have a knife at school you will be expelled or suspended. None-the-less does anyone carry a knife with them at school? I carry a CRKT Crawford Falcon in my pocket if i have a longer shirt on to cover the top of the pocket. I also just ordered a MOD scorpion neck knife that will be easy to conceil. If i dont have my Falcon i have a lil swiss army knife. What do you carry at school?

by school i assume you mean highschool, since colleges seem to be fairly lax about knives. i suggest, if you are talking about highschool, that you
1. don't do it in the first place
2. if you absolutely must, don't tell anyone about it

i am wondering...why do you carry your knife in school? you can't use them in school anyways, and very little is going to require a knife between school and home (on the bus no doubt). why carry something you can't use? it would be even worse if you were carrying it for SD...because you would be in wwwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy more trouble if you were to get into a fight and pull out the knife than if you were to do either act independently of eachother.

and what would you do if you were for some reason searched (suspected of having drugs etc?) and the knife were discovered? i know at my school they would make you take off your shoes and empty out all the pockets...and they would go through your backpack and locker. this doesn't leave alot of places to hide your knife (supposing you suspected you would be searched prior to the event). or would you just leave it in your pocket when you empty them out, hoping noone would notice? of course, if you do nothing to warrant being searched...then what worry is there?

just some thoughts i would lay out...hopefully some answers for me to think about...

That's a mean looking knife. Then again I'm assuming it isn't open much.

I never carried at school in middle or high school, but I do now in college. It's a bit different, though, being on campus nonstop...I leave my knife clipped to my jeans so I'm "carrying at school" any time I have pants on :-)

I carry a black tanto CRKT M16, btw.

I'm just outside Chicago, and it has a 3" blade, so I figure it's a good compromise.

It a sad sign of the times, years ago almost every guy in school had a Stockman in their pockets. Times have changed. In my area the schools have metal detectors. Be safe guy, don't get canned over your knife.

Freshman year through Senior year I took a knife to school. Alot of people did.

Not once in my 4 years did I need it for SD. I used it occasionally for opening stuff (shop class, etc.) and even if my teacher saw it it was never a big deal. As long as I wasn't playing with it or having it out for no need it was OK.

I went to a 5A highschool with 3,000+ kids, very rich community...it wasn't hillbilly or anything like that. But it was still OK, nobody ever got in any trouble that I can remember. Maybe my school was different, but nobody but the police could legally search you or go through your things. We had several on campus officers that did this...but not even the principal could make you empty your pockets, or even touch you for that matter. Several kids made use of this, but I never got in any trouble. That is the only way people got caught with drugs, the police would get involved and then take actions, all staff could do was tell you to obey or they would get an officer.

I meainly carried it...because I jsut wanted to. I wouldn't use it everyday but I felt better just having it in my pocket. Same reason I keep a switchblade in my glovebox and a fixed blade on my belt when I go out or go to work (I'm out of school now.) Will I need them for SD everyday? No. But on the rare occasion it happens, at least I was prepared. I've had one incident at work already where I could have used my knife, luckily I was locked inside my car and I was able to speed away before the psycho broke my window. (Road rage incident, guy started beating on my car while I was in line at a stop sign in the parking lot of where I work.)

I used to carry an SAK to school daily, graduated just before they assigned a deputy to every school. I read about a little boy getting expelled for taking one of those plastic butter knife like objects out of the cafeteria. zero tolerance makes zero sense.

Heh I find it funny how serious the school board wants to be when they are talking to parents or addressing the media. They talk about all kinds of policies and prevention measures, how they are zero tolerance and very dedicated to safety.

And I can go 4 years carrying a weapon into the school and never get in trouble. I got in more trouble for having a zippo lighter than a knife, I actually had my lighter confiscated(sp?).

yea i love my Falcon, and for 30$ its amazing knife.

To the person who asked why i carry a knife at school, same reasons people carry knives just about everywhere even when there almost gaurenteed not to need it. But then again you never know with these school bombers and stuff. but i really dont take it to school for self defense....its just i carry my knife everywhere and its a part of my life so it just seems right. If it is found I will tell them i forgot it was in my pocket, im cool with the authorties there they like me and have never been introuble so im not to worried about it. Plus they will never find it inless they take off my shirt or search my pockets..which will never happen. Ive carried for 3 years w/out trouble so far.

Probably not a good move to carry in a school. The consequences may not be worth the "it just seems right" payoff.

like i said, i dont think i would get punished. its a small school and i know my dean/principal pretty well and he likes me alot. Id just say "oh crap i forgot it was in my pocket" but he would just take it and my parents would need to get it or id go put it in my car. But that wont happen, theres no way they will know i have it inless they search me, which isnt gonna happen eather.

I have an old style Leatherman Wave at school every day, which is useful for all manner of things. Of course, I'm a teacher and am unlikely to get in any trouble.:D

some good reasons for carry.

i often carry my little slippy...a single bladed bear & son peanut. it is so small, and innocent looking, that i could probably pass it off for nothing. it sits in my right pocket next to the AAA mini mag.

not that i ever would be, but if i were asked to empty my pockets, i would just leave the knife in my pockets and pretend it didn't exist. naturally, a police officer is there doing the instruction when a search is performed.

i worry sometimes about leaving it in my pants pockets in the gym locker (no locks...) and someone finding it, but i know that is just an irrational fear. who goes looking through someone's pants while you are in gym?

i (almost) always have a knife on me, for doing whatever. sometimes in the warm weather i like to whittle on a stick while walking home from school, or whatever. as long as you treat it like the tool that it is, with the proper respect, there is no reason that you should be 'caught' with it or otherwise be in trouble for having it.

i still say its probably not a good idea to blatantly disobey the rules, but maybe that's the little bit of sheeple in me.

Strangly enough, the private school my oldest boy goes to (Jr. High) has no restrictions on pocket knives. Kershaw/Onion Baby Boa is his knife of choice. Makes me smile every morning when he slides it in his pocket.:)

^ Ok so let's turn that one around. As a teacher, how would you react to seeing one of your students carrying (in a pocket or what have you, not standing on a table waving it at the girlies)?

I'm assuming the answer is that it would depend on the student, but where would the answer start to change (clipped to his pocket so the clip was in plain sight, using a reasonably sized blade on a shop project or what have you, would age come into play, etc.)?

the scorpion is double edged thats going to be hard to explain. I carried an endura or a delica all through school 6th grade on and never had any trouble but the scorpion is fixed blade and double edged there is going to be trouble if that is found. you might could pass off a folder but not a scorpion.

Well I certainly hope you don't get into trouble. As a school administrator I would just warn you that I like an enormous amount of the students I deal with and if I found a Falcon on one of them, they would be in very serious trouble.

Still, the culture of the school will dictate the course of action.

I could understand a small folder. I just crawled out from underneath my rock and actually looked at the Falcon and noticed it was fixed blade.

I couldn't justify carrying around a fixed blade at school. I always had my Buck Prince, which is a VERY small folder (2.5" blade, barely 5" OAL i think). A fixed blade seems more suited for SD, and therefore (IMHO) is a more aggressive and threatening knife. I wouldn't advise a fixed blade. Maybe I am just weird, but a small pocket folder is alot more acceptable.

My college policy is no weapons such as bowie knives, switchblades, stilettos etc. Henceforth, my choice of ParaMilitary
