Knives for running?

I agree that you can and would adapt if it were more necessity and find a way ... maybe a dive knife set up strapped to your leg? ...

but we do adapt and improvise when we need too ... I went to the waist pack then shoulder pack for hiking to carry the odd things you end up wishing you had ... and amazing how many holster set ups I tried until I found the right one for me in different situations.

Where I start, there are people walking, hiking, or talking and I don’t want to draw attention to myself as any knife would likely result in some authority being called. About 3 miles in, there are another 50 miles where I’ve never run into another soul. So I would have to carry a pack in anyway, and somewhere after 3 miles could do fixed blade setups, even openly holster my glock 17 (I know, I need to go smaller) without fear of any legal difficulties. I live close to NY/Nj border, and often cross state lines on the trail.

check out blade forums website they got all kinds of light knives for running. you could also look up on youtube if your interested with making one would be Simple Little Lifes light running knife video. Part one:

Part 2:

My running knife is a h1 dragonfly. Not primarily for self defense but more for medical emergency and utility reasons. I do trail running and have seen bears at least 4 times. If one of those guys comes at you a folder or a fixed is not gonna do much. Also, Has anyone considered a carbon fiber or titanium fixed blade in a belly band? I’m considering one for a more lethal option for an emergency.

Although I like the bugout and the salt which both seem to be some of the more reasonable suggestions to the question asked I would never run with either of them. Why? Well, because if I lost a 100 dollar knife on a run I would be sad. What I do run with is a Kabar Dozier folder. If I lose a 20 dollar knife I'll be a lot more philosophical.
