Knives from movies, games and books, etc.

'Platoon' has several knives prominently displayed.
Sgt Elias with a Cold Steel tanto (13A or 13R?)(CS only started making these in the 80s)

In the movie "Cobra" Sylvester Stallone carries a custom Michael Walker liner lock, and the bad guy carries a crazy looking knife that looks like something United cutlery would make.

Billy’s (actor Sonny Landham) knife from the movie ‘Predator‘ was made by a fantastic maker (but unfortunately not a particularly great or ethical businessman) Jack Crain.

The spiked and nasty looking knife carried by the bad guy in ‘Cobra’ was made by Herman Schneider.

The 80’s were a wild time for knives and some incredible makers.

"Bulls**t!"

LOL

Commando is one of my favorite 80s movies. You have to feel bad for Vernon Wells, because he was a last minute replacement for the actor originally cast as Bennett. They didn't even really have time to change out the costume, so he was stuck wearing a costume meant for a bigger bad guy actor, and due to the last minute personnel change, Wells didn't have any time or opportunity to get into any kind of fighting shape. Dude did the best he could though, always loved that ending fightscene!

Looks to be a 13A. The 13R would be the Recon Tanto which has the dome-shaped pommel instead of the skull-crusher.

Lol...diidn't know that. One of my faves too.

These are great information. I will definitely read the book. Thanks
The author is a former Navy Seal Commander, and has to run everything he publishes by the government first. They require him to edit out information. He is anti-censorship, so he includes exactly where the info was removed by putting {redacted xxx} and encourages the reader to figure out what was redacted by keeping it in context, and mentions it in the beginning of the books. You can tell he loves knives and guns and he often mentions specific makes and models.

I love 80's movies, even the ridiculous ones like Chuck Norris "Invasion USA" and to be honest, I miss 80's toys. I had a full auto MP5 based battery operated watergun as a kid, no orange tip, looked like a smaller edition of the real thing. Before the mamby pamby bright colors etc. I miss GI Joe, MASK, and the old school Transformers. I still have 2 Trypticon's that I gave my nephews to keep at my house. Fully functional, though at this point missing some pieces.

The acting might not have been the best, but they made up for it in badassery. I loved Commando, and Dolph Lundgren's version of "The Punisher" despite being a departure from the comic. Jeroen Krabbé plays a great bad guy, both in " The Punisher" and in "The Living Daylights."

In Tom Clancy's 'Without Remorse' the main character John Clark uses a Ka-Bar USMC (1217).

That last pic....I think I see a vintage combat crack pipe on Charlie Sheen there. Just to the left of whatever is to the right of it. And a little above. Right?

A SOG SEAL 2000 is specifically featured in the game 'Counter-Strike'

I knifed a lot of people back in the days of CS 1.5 and 1.6. I had I used to admin a server, well actual a few from one owner, including other games like Age of Chivalry and Team Fortress 2. It's been over 10 years since I played.

A lot of movies feature(d) butterfly knives.

Under Siege 2 had a Sog flash I believe, and the final cringy knife fight Casey Ryback had a Mad Dog ATAK. It was such a ridiculous fight.

That's a bong. Crack hadn't been invented yet.

You do know that Charlie was always winning and ahead of the times on Tiger Blood, though? "Charlie" and "Crack" both start with a "C"... convinced yet? There's no "C" in "bong" - science!
