Sorry, just as I pressed "post", I realized that mine is an AMT Backup, the first, single-action version. It's also a fixed barrel gun, and if you can see the tiny sights it's deadly at up to ten yards, I imagine that a good shooter could make solid hits farther than that. Before I got "essential tremors" in my hands, at ten yards I could keep a whole magazine in an index card placed with the short sides on top and bottom (to simulate a heart). With modern .380 ammo, even in a short barreled version like either of our guns, that's a pretty much guaranteed "stop" if you can do it under pressure. Now I carry a larger firearm; it's a bit uncomfortable, but I shoot it far better and it's a 9mm. I have the same gun in 10mm (an XD/M Elite Compact), but I have yet to build the proficiency with it that I have with the 9mm, which is still marginal. The problem with essential tremors is that both the disorder and the medications to somewhat control it both mess up your balance. As is often said, gettin' old ain't for sissies.
