Don't laugh now. I can't use a rifle, shotgun or handgun to try and discourage a certain racoon bandit that seems to like my bird feeders. I've been making him jump with a BB rifle that has to be pumped about 10 times to get off a shot.
I also smeared some Frank's hot sauce on the baffle and pole leading to the feeder. It seems to keep him away unless it has rained or is raining.
I remembered this Daisy 45 pellet pistol that has been squirrelled away for about 30 years now. I got some pellets, put a new CO2 cartridge in it, set up a target at 30' or so, and was able to get some decent shots. If he doesn't move too fast, I should be able to tag him at least once, maybe twice when he's hanging upside down on my feeder. Either way, it'll be fun!
I was pleasantly surprised to find it in working order after all these years. Got the Malibu in the shot since I might get real lucky and have to skin him, and it matches the Daisy!
