I’ve got 2k+ rounds through my Aero build without cleaning and it runs just fine!Gun cleaning was a little known concept, rarely practiced until the invention of the AR/M16 platform.
I usually don't go past 500 rounds without a thorough cleaning and lube. Having one gun that is extremely finicky about cleaning and ammo (Ruger MKII) and another that's overgassed, cleaning is routine for me.I’ve got 2k+ rounds through my Aero build without cleaning and it runs just fine!

My Tavor functions flawlessly but it smells so bad after a few hundred rounds I have to clean it. My knee is finally healed enough that I should be able to install the new recoil spring which is supposed to help with this issue. My Ruger MK II Gov't Competition model was a gift for my 20th birthday, so I can't sell it. I rarely shoot it, its pretty much the gun I start new shooters on.Agreed. If I'm worried something I own isn't going to function properly through several hundred rounds, then it's getting passed on.
Thanks for letting me know, that’s fantastic!Actually you can get them now, readily available. They came out with them again this year.View attachment 2395890
This MK spent its life shoved in a junk drawer between target practice and shooting rats/mice/snakes and other problem animals while I was growing up at home.I usually don't go past 500 rounds without a thorough cleaning and lube. Wow. After 150-200 rounds the bullets literally tumble from my MKII. I'm serious, the target will have the bullets go through sideways. Despite being the top spec model it's a terrible gun, but it was a gift. I had it inspected by a gunsmith and he said that's how a lot of the "Government Competition models are--finicky about being cleaned and what ammo it will use. I haven't shot it in almost a year because it's also a pain to disassemble. This MK spent its life shoved in a junk drawer between target practice and shooting rats/mice/snakes and other problem animals while I was growing up at home.
Don’t think it was cleaned out until I inherited it. It was absolutely filthy and still shooting accurately and dependably. The front sight is loose and I’m still able to rapid fire tight groups.

Hopefully yours loosens up with use. With my experience with mine, it’s hard to believe it can be inaccurate, but I believe you. It is a ruger after all, and while most of them are good, they’ve churned some lemons. As you’ve seen, it’s a good teaching pistol.Wow. After 150-200 rounds the bullets literally tumble from my MKII. Something to consider, but I rarely shoot the gun, maybe once a year at most.
