Photos Knives & Guns

For quite some time I've wanter a lever action rifle. I just had my birthday and decided to buy one. I'd been looking at .357 because I have a .357 revolver and two .38spl revolvers, but they are hard to find in a configuration I like. I ended up deciding on a used but unfired 1970 Winchester 1894 Lone Star commemorative edition ijb.30-30. I should have it Thursday. I'll post a pic then. It has a 26" barrel.
Jerks at the store wouldn't sell it to an Illinois resident.

However, I went to another store that would ship to my local FFL and bought a Marlin in .30-30. Got a good deal too.

That is a classic rifle. I had one decades ago and loved it. Had to part with it though. Wish I could find an old one at a decent price.
Great buy

As much as loathe going back home to Illinois, it will be exciting to pick it up and give it some range time. I've never shot .30-30.

I really like the design (and lighter weight) over the Henry my buddy has.

I understand the Illinois thing.
It is a nice caliber and rifle.

I understand that. All my rifles have scopes or red dots depending on the use. My hunting handgun are all scoped. A couple of my normal handguns carry red dots. Looking forward to reading your impressions of the rifle

That guard for the trigger is wide open. Careful not to get any slings or things in there.
It's never been an issue. But it's a range toy mostly, though I do I have a sling for it I never use.

I have a whole home defense setup. Folding stock AK upstairs in the bedroom with both the .357 Chiappa Rhino and Beretta PX4 storm .40 for backup. Lower lever the Steyr M9 with 17 round mag in a quick access safe in my desk.

If I decide to learn to hunt I will have my Marlin .30-30, Remington 760 .308, and Westernfield (Mossberg) 12ga. I'm set.

I love the Tavor and the looks it gets at the range, but the exorbitant cost plus upgrades make me hesitate to use it except as a backup.

Once I move out of Illinois I plan to do an AR-10 build.

An AR10 build is next on my list as well since I’m already invested in .308

That’s already a lot of calibers! I down sized and stick to mostly NATO calibers now.
I inherited a lot when I was 17 when my grandfather died. I forgot to add .30 carbine.

Once we sell the house and I get an apartment out here in Fort Collins, I plan to add .45 and perhaps .45-70 to the collection.

Honestly, many of them I never shoot just lube occasionally. 9mm, 5.56mm, 7.62x39 and .357 are what get shot the most. Occasionally.40. .30-30 is going to cost me a lot to shoot unfortunately.

I sold my AR-15 to my mother and my Remington 887 nitro mag to my soon to be stepfather. So my safe will still have one open slot. If I like the Marlin enough I may get another lever gun in .357 for a range toy. I plan on learning to hunt this year finally, after a lifetime of wanting to but now finally knowing people who are into it.

I'm trying to stop my caliber list from growing. Currently:

.38
.357
.40
9mm
.22lr
.22 short
5.56mm
7.62x39mm
.308
.30-30
12ga.

It's getting too complicated and expensive.
I have .22LR
7.62x39
30-30
.38 S&W Special
.40 S&W
.45ACP
.45C
and 20 gauge.
It would be expensive to add another caliber to what I have.

Well done. Turned the hk45 into a usp
