Photos Knives & Guns

Morning. After yesterday's day at the range, my rifles will get a break for a bit ....

Some switcheroo of stocks and scopes: the standard now carries the longer Burris zoom scope, the Tanker the shorter and fixed Leupold:

Both have USGI stocks.

M1a/M14 trivia: a new M1a today comes with either wood or (quite soft) polymer stock. When the M14 replaced the M1 Garand, it first had a wood stock, later it came in fiber glass, for better water resistance in Vietnam. Today's polymer stocks are more flexible than the original fiber glass ones and USGI stocks can still be bought.

The two above are such stocks from the 60s; you can tell from the hole in the fancy wood stock on the right, under the receiver/irons (where the M14 auto switch was). That hole was filled in the gray stock on the left (JB Weld) and the stock was repainted; then, I replaced the steel butt plate with a rubber pad and added bipod mount and scope/cheek riser; finally, I put a layer of Kevlar in the front under the barrel, for additional stiffness.

If you like to modify knives, you should try an M1a :)

That requires to much work. 😉

Buy an Archangel stock.

Or a JAE

Fun fact: in CA, M1A and Remington 740 don’t require a „bullet button“ because CA politicians think they look like hunting rifles.

But wait, there's more!

Gotta have a CA approved muzzle brake, factory "flash hider" is evil! Will turn it into an "assault rifle" and the kings men will arrest you!

I know someone that got caught up in it, turned his life upside-down.

These are good to go, no worries. 😉

Nice High Standard! I had one like it that was the “improved” version with the barrel held on with a screw from below. Very accurate, but no matter what I tried, after about 200 rounds, the barrel would start to come loose and of course, accuracy would go to heck. If I’d had the version you have I would probably still have it. Finally ended up trading it for a S & W model 41 that always seems to work just fine.

I Also have a model 41 and a Hi Standard sharpshooter survival pack which has barrel held w screw loctite prevents it loosening : this citation pictured i literaly stole for 250.00 from a guy who was moving couldnt take it with him …

I know the internet thinks the PPS Mk2 is a stinker, it just fits my hand so damn well and I get really good groups with it. I’ve watched some videos on the new Smith & Wesson CSX and it’s a real contender. Same for the Beretta 80X Cheetah. This PPS has been the carry for I guess damn near a decade now though. The PPS M2 is a sweet little CCW option, in my book. Great accuracy for its size, and typical Walther quality.

Nice WBD too. I like my OZK-003 a lot. 👍
