The gun is a Ruger New Bearcat 22LR. I like your idea about the grips. 🤔
There used to be a guy out west.... California, I think, that made custom wood grips for single-action revolvers. I'm trying to remember his name, but I can't. I found him on the Rugerforum. He does good work. Or did. It's been a long time since I bought any grips.

So, I went searching, and finally found the guy. It was Cary Chapman, and he was out of California. Still alive and kicking (as of the end of February), but he is no longer making custom grips. Too bad. His work was top notch. In the thread where I found he had quit, he posted this link that goes through the steps to make your own grips. If anyone is interested.

Is .22 Long just a fun cartridge to shoot around? Varmint killer or for small game? Just wondering what practical applications the caliber has.

Local clubs have paper target and silhouette pistol leagues. It's also a great way to practice trigger control without recoil.

I also use .22 LR for engaging family members in the sport with relatively low cost.

22 is my favorite round to suppress. All day hearing safe plinking and a great way to introduce shooting to others. A bolt action 22 rifle with subsonics is insanely quiet. Plus it’s a good, plentiful and cheap varmint round.

I'm not sure if I've ever even shot a true .22 Long round, but .22 Long Rifle is probably my all-time favorite round. Low cost, low recoil, . . . what's not to love? It's even better if you have a suppressor.

not sure, edu macate me. ;) Ok, learned that the .22LR sort of replaced the .22L, and is heavier to increase accuracy?
Not to take away from the many knowledgeable folks on this forum but the development of the various .22 rimfire cartridges is long and sorta complicated. Suggest you visit the folks over on Rimfire Central. They have a wealth of information on all things rimfire. Happy researching!

Old picture but worth showing it. Not photoshopped.
‘This is the same afternoon before Irma hit FL. My house was 5mi away from the center of the storm.
I had 2 more families at home, escaping the flood zone in Sarasota.
‘A huge generator kept us with power during the storm and following two days without power.

Blue dot is our house 🤣
It was beautiful night, the eye of the storm hit us closed to midnight and the wind and rain switched direction around 1am.

I grew up north of Pensacola and have trouble liking anything hurricane related. The photo is awesome. People that have never lived through a hurricane for the most part have trouble understanding the power one of these storms bring. The devastation lasts for a long time. I now live in the upper Midwest and can say without hesitation, I will take a blizzard over a hurricane
