plinking and small game.Is .22 Long just a fun cartridge to shoot around? Varmint killer or for small game? Just wondering what practical applications the caliber has.
There's still a good supply of .22 short around. I have boatload of .22 short cb rounds from CCI. They work great in my henry pump gallery gun. Almost no noise....just a tiny little "pop".plinking and small game.
Velocity is a little less than the standard .22 long rifle.
If you're mainly interested in a "fun" cartridge for parlor shooting, plinking, murdering frogs, etc. there are the .22CB; .22BB (hard to find these days, I'm not sure if they are still made today. They were when I was a youngling in the 1960's) and the .22 short.
If your .22 rimfire ISN'T a semi-auto, and will chamber and shoot the .22 Long Rifle, it will also chamber and shoot the shorter cartridges.
Rossi made a slide action .22 Short Gallery rifle a few years ago. It would also shoot the shorter CB and BB cartridges. I don't remember if you had to load it like a single shot with the CB/BB cartridges to avoid feed problems.
.22 short and long are getting harder to find. I haven't seen either at the local sporting goods/gun shops or Walmart for a few years now.
The subsonic .22LR are fun to shoot as well.
thank you.I keep admiring your G setup... The only thing I'd add would be a threaded barrel and a mag with 154gr rounds...![]()
Makes sense back in the late 1800's to early 1900's "Parlor Shooting" was a popular pastime with both hims and hers (and a popular party entertainment). They would set up a bullet stop in the parlor (AKA: "Living Room") for target shooting. There's still a good supply of .22 short around. I have boatload of .22 short cb rounds from CCI.
