Knives of the 2015 Blade Show • Past homages, Future visions, Present skills •

Coop, thanks for the work you do getting these gems shot and shared here. I had never seen this D-guard before. Outstanding work Jon and Tom. I was made are of this knife this evening on my commute home by a fellow forum member. I am glad he told me about it. Stunning!

...I've said I'm almost done about a dozen times. This post will seal it.

You must know by now that I enjoy the work and company of Keith Ouye (and his charming wife Amy).

Here's a variation of his VERY recognizable style:

Keith provided a 'Lefty' proto, and I include a shot of his internal lockbar stabilizer.

Longtime maker and jeweler and good friend George Dailey doesn't make many knives, but when he does; they are memorable.

For the past few years veteran collector Tom Ruby brings me his 'projects'. They are always captivating and historical. This year, as the Blade Magazine had a current Case Dagger on it's cover during the show, Tom brought me these ACTUAL WWII era knives and sheaths. Each one has significant artifacts he has purchased from the owner's estate which is part of the storytelling.

The owner was drinking a brewski with his buds in between details.

Although it says 'Camillus', there was a commemorative duplicate brochure which read 'Case'. They made them for both.

This particular one served out in the ocean. The name 'USS OMAHA' was stamped out on the sheath for some classified reason long ago.

The proud and victorious crew celebrated a capture with the flag.

^^^ What a project! Tom promises to bring me stuff every year. I have to reserve time for him on Sunday morning.

OK. NOW I'm done.

As I type, I have my office FILLED with contact sheets and makers info scan sheets, and I am preparing the mailers to send off to the magazines. This work isn't finished on my end until I've sent it off to the editors. That's ALSO what is included, and it's a formidable task.

Thank you for your comments and especially your admirations: to me and the makers.

Jim

Coop, I received my photo! Great job! You and your team are the best!

RogerP, sorry I did not show you my Moran Tribute ST-24, every time I saw you you were very busy.

Kevin Jones, thank you for looking my knife over and the great critique, that meant alot!

I'm sad to think that you won't be adding more, thanks for the lovely photos :)

Coop, for some reason I have enjoyed this year's thread more than any of the others. It's really unbelievable, some of the stuff in here. I could look at it over and over (and will).

A terrific body of photographic work Coop! So many of the makers in this thread are creating world class custom cutlery (and I salute them) but you introduce the makers' talents and passions to the world. A job well done!

Mr. Cooper, I don't post very much, but Mark has summed this up pretty well. I have enjoyed it immensely and have already visited several times and will continue to do so.

Thank you for your time and effort and the quality of what you do.

I've enjoyed the process as well. I like the small storytelling which gives each maker a little more excitement.

Value is measured in many ways. This thread is a VALUE to my clients, to you, and our industry as a whole. :D (Buddy keeps reminding us. ;))

Hi Coop! I'm still pretty "new" to the hobby and I'm always learning. I read as many threads as I can, to learn and to admire treasures that I would probably never be able to see in person. For this reason I wanted to personally thank you for your contribution in the time, effort, skill, knowledge, etc that you continually bring to the community. Your photographs are works of art, in my opinion. I know it takes a lot of prep and skill to get the quality in each pic, that you take. I'm not going to turn this into a long letter but I did want to express my thanks to you, for all the hard work you have put into your photos and in turn....sharing them for all of us in the community to enjoy!
