Knives of the Blade Show 2013 • Art, Classics, and Community

SO enjoying your Blade thread, Coop !
Always a fantastic treat every year, many thanks !

Great stuff. Brian Thie's ivory bowie and Brion Tomberlin's badass bolo-looking knife hold strong appeal for yours truly. The pearl trapper that STeven snagged is just sublime. Dude knows his knives.

I recently bought a cracking 24 inch full HD monitor for my home PC and a thread like this makes it worth every penny. Sensational knives and photos, just all-round awesome.

Thanks for your always anticipated stunning photos and review of all the fantastic knives you get to handle.

Most of all, thanks so much for taking the time to speak to my wife and I....it was great to have finally met you.

Absolutely amazing as always Coop! Great to see you again and congrats to the star runner.

Thanks Roger!

The trapper from Harvey Dean was actually an order. delivered back in January or so....the order was placed in 2009....Harvey asked that a professional photo be made, so had the knife in my checked baggage for Coop to work up, as there was no time for professional photographs since the beginning of the year, and I didn't want to ship the knife just for photography.

That is a black lip pearl bollocks escutcheon, the first that Harvey has done, as is the shape of this knife Harvey's first. The blades are made of S30V stainless steel(if memory serves).

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I agree, superb trapper by Harvey Dean. A real class act.. You have good taste after all. ;)
Congrats!

This elegant piece by Ron Newton has so much going on, I didn't know when to stop. It all needed to be seen!

Ryan Weeks has been talking about this collaboration with Claudio Sobral for months.

Thanks for the great photos Coop, Claudio is a bit removed from the bustle of Blade so I thought it would be nice. I will stop talking about it now :D

Scot Matsuoka with his recognizable style and the omnipresent 'Lightning Strike' CF.

Cliff Parker builds these elegant folders out of his mesmerizing mosaic damascus. The abalone scales sparkle with bright lighting

Rodrigo Sfreddo built a pair of knives with similar styles and on a theme. I think I have this correct: Here is Spring:

In collaboration with Antonio Montejano posts his work regularly in the BF Gallery. A VERY talented artist, who uses acid etching to imbue his art.

Tonight's closer: Probably one of my harder shots to manage, but I was surprisingly impressed at the outcome. :)

I will be working on more edits in a couple of days. Views when I do.

Thanks!

Jim, thank you for the great shots. So many knives I was not able to see, now I can. Always great to see you and Susan. Excellent work.

Erin,

The Best Damascus and Best of Show were for the L-4 Dagger.

The Best Bowie was for this Feather/Stag Bowie. This one may have more of the characteristics of a Bowie.

John

Thanks John. Makes perfect sense. Great work on both.
