Knives to have in a zombie invasion!

Bit more serious ;)
Knives from Tomoyuki Nemoto and Kikuo Matsuda.
I've posted a similar thread with pics in the past, but can't search for it

Been prepared....:D

Honestly?

I'd take a lightweight aluminum baseball bat. Preferably a T-Ball or kid's bat.

It's long, light, hard and can be swung incredibly fast.

You don't have to worry about it getting stuck in anything either.

For a bladed weapon? I'd go with an axe with a pick or hammer on the back for utility purposes. Also a kukri or machete.

For firearms? An M14 would be great for long range, any reliable pistol in .45, and a reliable shotgun with buckshot loaded.

Actually I honestly think a zombie situation is more likely, however unlikely, than a dragon popping up. I mean often the story starts out with some sort of virus or bacteria that turns people into zombies. Some form of freak disease is actually more realistic than any kind of fantasy monster turning up or extinct creature (like a T-Rex) returning from oblivion. Maybe not in the form of zombies, but perhaps irrational or delerious masses of infected people that turn everything on it's ear. We saw in Katrina the people that came out of the woodwork to steal and pillage. Mix that with some sort of disease that makes someone irrational, violent, or blood thirsty due to a combination of fever and or chemical balance problems and you got something close to zombies. For such a situation zombies cannot argue with the raw hate of a Benelli M1 Super 90 and a Busse Combat AK47. For a pistol you'd want something easy to feed and light. I'd pack a Glock 19. 12ga and 9mm can be found in most wal-marts, hardware stores, and gun stores. So you'd be able to find ammo easier on the fly. Easier than something like 308 or 357sig.

LOL, I think it's fun to talk about "Never-Gonna Happen" scenarios.

No XM-79?? :p

In a world where I can get whatever ammo I want, whenever I want, it'd be a LWRC IAR in 6.8SPC with Elcan Specter and piggybacked DrOptic red-dot, and a Glock G20 (10mm) with crimson trace laser grips. Blades would be Leatherman Blast, MOD CQD Mk1, SOG Tigershark, and a Cold Steel Magnum Kuhkri.

What about a zombie dragon? Would that not be badass? ...how the hell would you kill THAT?

PS; An AK-47 jams far more often than an M1 Carbine, and while on the move it would be incredibly hard to find extra ammunition for such a weapon. And as for the weapon with the "katana" on top, that would be the shaolin spear. Another thing, bladed weapons need to have plenty of heft to smash through a human skull.

Great pic, 42B. I believe I said it in an another thread a couple months ago, but I'll say it again. You're a very lucky man.

Maybe something from the spyderco salt series. All that Zombie blood might stain the blades…

Since I do not collect a lot of fixed blades I may be in a little trouble upon a zombie uprising. If the attack comes tonight I only have an Ontario Ranger RD4 with a 4.5" blade. I do have a homemade impact weapon, a cut down hickory axe handle that I have dremeled finger grooves, and palm depression in to. I do have another Ontario Ranger arriving tomorrow, a RD7 with a 7.5" blade, so that will work better than nothing!

I have an extree Magnum Kukri that will excel for the zombies. :D

What is that aluminum hatchet?

It's a SOG Fusion tactical tomahawk, their version of the Vietnam tomahawk. Originally made with a wood shaft, and now a fiberglass one. The one posted had the shaft replaced with machined Titanium.

The head is set on a tang, which makes for a stronger head. The problem is that it's set into the handle instead of around, which makes for a weaker haft.

I still like mine, with the fiberglass handle.

Smatchet.:D

Ohhh, the ALMIGHTY Smatchet!!!

Since we're on the subject of ammunition, I went to the local wally world and couldn't find any 9mm :grumpy: There were TONS of bricks of .22LR though.......anybody want to trade? :p

When I get into my Millenium Falcon those zombie bastads will be running in the opposite direction. When I do need to exit my ultra sweet ride its all good.... I've got my Mobile Mech Unit. You may have seen one of these in the last Matrix movie. Of course it's fully loaded with it's double Mini Guns. Maybe we'll throw a mini Rail Gun on the shoulder to blast through those large clusters of the undead.

In the hypothetical, theoretical world of zombie outbreaks, my opinion is that the most likely, and probably most effective zombie weapon is the common framing hammer.

Readily available, never goes "dull", more clout than most blades. Also, if it glances, it's still liable to deal more damage than a glancing edged weapon.

If I had pick a bladed implement, I'd probably opt for the Igorot headhunter's axe:

The spike in back would be ideal for de-zombification. Heck, the swept-forward edge in front wouldn't be too shabby either.

If it can't be an axe, then either a khuk or heavy parang.

Ooh, nice "toys" C.S.! I especially like the hatchet/axe. Been thinking since I posted, and decided that an Ontario Ranger RD Hawk, with spike, would be an excellent tool for zombie deanimation. I just wonder though, can you truly deanimate what is already deanimated?
