Knives & Watches

But I brought a nice pic of my EDC.

Just kidding.

Having broken at least one watch a year and several folders for the last 10 years, I think I've found the perfect combination that has served me really well and is the toughest stuff I've ever used and abused. Especially the watch is like a tank. I've killed two Breitlings and one Rolex so far and the current watch has survived a lot more and is still in perfect condition. It's a Mühle Sports Automatic M 12

and the knife is equally heavy duty, a Greco Grifon

As a male, I have no use what-so-ever, for male jewelry or fine watches.

I have an $80.00 Swiss Army watch that will keep as accurate time as any $8000.00 Rolex. Probably more durable as well!

I don't wear any kind of jewelry of any kind, never have, and never will.

BTW: What is up with all these guys wearing ear-rings in one or both of their ears? Could they be any more feminine?

It's time for the sexes to get back to what they are, and not try to be the other!:grumpy:

I'm a Luminox man myself. Nothing expensive like some of the watches you guys mentioned, but I love the Marine series as a dress-up watch.

Well, not really. that's the reason you pay a premium for such watches. IMHO...

I'm with you on the earring thing, though... :barf:

Don; If I might inquire as to the price of that watch? It is a beauty!!! :D

drjones,

I bought the watch in Germany for about 400$, in the U.S. it might be a bit more.
There's an old version with a mineral crystal and a new one with a sapphire crystal. I have one with a ss bracelet, black dial, and sapphire crystal

The manufacturer offers a lot more watches, all are handmade in Germany, save the movements, which are ETA (Switzerland).

They also have some really great-looking chronographs, but I wanted a watch as tough as possible since I somehow tend to wreck them, so I've chosen to get the mechanically least complicated model.

Before I knew anything about watches I was given an Omega Seamaster by a client (I used to be a personal trainer and some of my clients where mega wealthy - this one was a brothel madam)Wow, I thought, how generous, this must have cost at least $200. One day a year or two later I walked past a jewelery store after having just seen what looked like my watch in a James Bond movie. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw it's price. Took the thing straight off and started wearing a G-shock instead. I still have it and am glad I din't beat it to death as I can appreciate it's beauty and craftmanship now.

When it comes to watches, I am like the people who buy one stockman slipjoint and carry it forever, because it cuts what they need it to. I have one watch, that keeps time like I need it to...;)

It did take me awhile to find this watch though. It is a Swatch model, very thin and light, since it bothers me to have a huge chunk of metal attached to my wrist. The band is flexible metal scales, sort of like chainmail. More durable than leather, but much more comfortable to me than the expandible metal bands.

Collecting watches is not for me though. But enjoy your hobby!

Sorry about the way the watch came out, it's a Omega Seamaster Chronograph c.1963, a pilots watch from Vietnam.

High end for me is Seiko:( . But my chrono is now going on 8 yrs old of daily wear.
Watch with stainless band and simple gold wedding band. Only jewelry on this chap.
:D

Well, I'm still in the Citizen, Seiko, and Luminox phase as I'm still in school and have grad school ahead of me. My current EDC's are an Emerson Mini Commander and a Luminox 3001 Dive Watch. I really love the Luminox especially with how light it is and how scratch resistant the crystal has been.

I'm a broke university kid, so I got mostly digital sport watches. Several g shocks, a couple nike watches... Works well for me. try timing a run to the second on a rolex why dont cha!? and it matches perfectly with my FRN Endura for just over 100 bucks(Canadian$)!(just trying to justify to myself to not induging into one of those beautiful movados)

OK my $.02. I never repeat never take off my watches and my watches used to last about 2 years each. I bought mainly Seiko's and they were about $50 each. About 15 years ago my ex bought me a Rolex Datejust (many fights about that...I would rather have paid off a credit card) but 15 years later it is still going. I broke down and had it serviced about 5 years ago and that is it. Along the same lines the Microtech SOCOM I bought in 97 keeps on ticking. I abuse the heck out of it and I constantly open it by flipping it open (without touching the blade). It has opened cans, split light wood for kindling and most everything else that you can reasonably expect from a folder. It is still as tight as when it was new. Both my Rolex and SOCOM have proved to be a lot tougher than I am.

Here's my stuff:

Pic # 2 is a Kahr P9 w/ factory Trijicon night sites, an Elishewitz Persian Mono lock with Carbon fiber inlay and a Stainless Omega Seamaster Pro Chronometer with the Laser Blue face and the polished bezel.

Pic # 1 is the old Glock 21 hi cap with Trijicons loaded up with Hydra-Shoks set next to my user Microtech Socom Elite and the same old SMP.

Everybody has their own preferences, these are mine.
