Knives with Pocket Clips always getting lost

I recently started a new job where clip-carry knives are forbidden. I have worked for this company previously for over 17 years and never had an issue with my Spyderco clipped in my right front pocket. I left the company to work for the competition and was gone for 7 years. My first week back I went to a regional meeting. As I walked in, the Regional Vice President was in front of the room speaking to a District Manager. As I took my seat I overheard him saying that if he ever walks into another store and sees a knife clipped into an associate's pocket, he will have them put it in their car. The second time will result in a write up.

I now carry a Buck Bantam BBW in my right front pocket. Its small and light enough that I don't mind it in there with my keys and change, plus, its inexpensive enough that I'm not worried about it getting scratched up.

I had a hard time deciding what knife to carry as my OCD doesn't like the idea of removing a clip from a folder equipped with one. They didn't "feel" right.

The Bantam BBW doesn't come with a clip and the 2&3/4" blade length doesn't frighten the sheeple so much.

Back to the topic: My job is managing an auto parts store, and I have, in the past, snagged my clipped folders on ladders, edges of shelves, and on carts and had them pulled out of my pocket. Where I work our parts runs are very tall and narrow, so hitting the pocket clip is very easy.

I'm actually kinda enjoying pocket carry....even if I'm not exactly happy with the rules...

I wear a Filson Tin Cruiser jacket a lot of the time in the fall and winter. On the bottom of the jacket the fabric is folded under and hemmed, this has caught on pocket clips and dumped my knife on the floor numerous times. It just pulls them right out and dumps them on the floor whenever I get up from sitting or reach over my head. I now carry my knife in my pants pocket or jacket when wearing this jacket.

I was buying a 6 pack once and my mini grip got clipped to the cardboard. I didn't notice until I payed, the clerk didn't notice either:D

A little over a year ago I bought my first Sebenza. After a few months of clipped carry, I lost it.

Six weeks later, I found it in my work van, on the floor by the seat. It probably got hooked on my seat belt and became unclipped from my pocket.

Anyway, you gotta get back on the horse, right?

Another couple of months went by and I lost it again, never finding it.

I removed the pocket clip from my replacement, and it rides at the bottom of my pocket.

Perhaps buy another Mini grip and carry it in your pocket (and remove the clip)
Since it uses springs to keep the blade closed instead of a crappy ball detent (hate those, have several knives opened in my pocket) you can safely carry it without using the clip.

i used to pocket clip carry and after my first time losing a knife while it was clipped, i only sheath carry. I tried running once with a flipper knife clipped and that almost wound up bad. Being active, sheath carry all the way.

How about lanyard and clip? It dangles into my pocket pretty well and I don't think I can lose it.

One of the first things I check on a new or traded knife is the tension of the clip. If it's not tight enough, I like the clip to stay on the pocket fabric, until I pull
the knife out I tighten the clip. Most brands of knives that I've had/have good tension on their clips.
I've never lost a knife because of a pocket clip.

Never lost a knife out of my pocket in my life. Best bet is either to be more careful, tighten the clip up, or carry a knife that comes tight from factory...I mean, to lose a Cold Steel Voyager or Talwar for example, with their very tight clip and aggressive texturing, you pretty much have to be TRYING to lose it.

Crawl thru a thicket or jump on and off motorcycles etc

I can't keep any knife in my pocket using just a clip

The only knives I have lost either had no clip, or weren't clipped to me at the time. Clips work for me, though some better than others.

Maybe you'd want to try clipping it into your waistband instead of your pocket? It's not that different as far as accessibility and is much more secure and protected from would-be knife stealing shrubberies or what not.

The only thing that used to get brushed off was a cell phone on my belt (clipped). Stopped that wear approach except for very limited circumstances. I hope you aren't clipping the knife to the outside of your pants or belt. It would get lost there.

I wear a lot of cargo pants and I keep my ZT clipped on the secondary pocket. That is pretty much where I keep moderns with clips as I have a SAK in my pocket all the time.

I am super content with horizontal pouch carry

Keeps knife clean , secure and believe it or not much more discreet than pocket clip carry

I'll go to IWB carry only in that's my only option but in that scenario there are better IWB fixed blade solutions IMHO

The only time I've lost clipped knives is because I forget to unclip them from my pants. I usually find them in the laundry basket. Just found my Manix 2 XHP today that way.

It keeps them secure, but I notice every time someone has a pouch. I certainly look to see if it's a knife, or just a boring phone.
A clip could be a boring pen or something...I think they're about tied.

I just don't like pouches on my belt, but if you like them, then yep, they should be pretty good at keeping your knife secure.
