I don't want this to get into a company vs. company argument, but rather:
What are some types of knives that you don't feel the need to own?
I specifically left off some things that just annoy me. The following list represents only what I really don't want at all.
I don't think I'll ever own the following:
1) flippy knives: Knives that open and close sideways. I don't care how secure the locking mechanism is, I don't like them very much.
2) Kris knives. I've never understood these, and I don't really see any advantage
3) NeoTribal stuff - Just not me. I like more modern and/or more refined styles.
4) Any knife w/ 3V steel. From what I understand this stuff rusts pretty quickly. I usually, not always, tend to avoid high carbon knives for this reason.
I know there's other stuff I don't really want to own, but those above are the least likely. Maybe this list will increase in size once I get more ideas from following posts.

any fantasy knives-I just think they're stupid. This includes swords, and the aforemantioned Kris.
Kabar style knives-I just have no use for them, at all.
Metal handled knives-this has stoped me from buying a few that I otherwise really wanted. My hands sweat way too much, and the 1 or 2 I own, I've lost my grip on them one too many times to buy another.

Any wall hanger-The only knives I buy are meant to be used; I don't have a desire to pay more for Gold, MOP, or other materials that don't add functionality relative to the price increase.

Just about any knife that says "China" on the blade. Someone gave me one once, still new in box. I passed it along again, to its 3rd owner....

I agree with the whole fantasy knife argument as I see them being very expensive show pieces with little to no practical value. With regards to the Kris blade, I don't own any personally, but can see their merit through my experiences in FMA. The only downside to such a blade would probably be the sharpening, but that being said all aspects of the blade can be used for cutting which is definatley worth taking note.

On the knives that I won't ever buy, the number one type would be those that are "pretty" and look more traditional than modern. What I mean by this is knives that have fancy pearl inlays, antique wooden handles or just those that scream safequeen. I'm sure that these are wonderful tools but when I do use my knives, they are used hard, often being covered in dirt, or have box burns all along the blade area. I like having a folder that I don't feel guilty of abusing and looks the part of a workhorse.

On the traditional side, what I mean't by that are the buck110 style wooden handled folders or horn handled fixed bladed bowies. Once again I'm sure these are great tools, but I entered the knife world drooling over the Emerson CQC-6, and the SOG SEAL 2000. I like my blades to have look like they are from the same era in which I hail from in having things like zytel, or g-10, and not look like a prop from a spaghetti western ;) .

I'm sure many of you will feel differently but the man asked a question and these are my two cents :) .

anything in 420, 440A or B, AUS6 or 8, or any mystery steels

anything chinese :barf:

any assisted openers, not that bad but not my preference

anything CRKT, just don't trust their liner locks.

any knife made by an unbelievable jerk (you know who I'm talking about)

oh, and anything cold steel, but I pretty well had that covered already. ;)

-Anything Benchmade

-Anything Gerber

-Anything Cold Steel

-Anything larger than 3" long with bolsters

Most spydercos. Not that they're bad, just not to my taste or preferred ergos. Manix appears to be the exception

Sebenza. Frame lock, hollow ground, metal handles, Three majoyr things I do not like in a folder.

Knives from the sharpened pry bar school of knife making.

Phil

Strider or Sebenza. Just don't think they're even close to worth it.

Any design rip off by Gerber or MTECH or whatever other company.

Fantasy knives. I think they're hideous.

HUGE folders. I don't see the every day need for a 5 inch blade. Not for me, personally, that is. Maybe a specialized job

OTF Microtech: Really cool, really out of my price range

Any balisong other than the szabofly (maybe): I love balis, but I can't use them in Texas, so I'm trying to resist throwing more money their way.

Any pocket knife that does not have a screw driver and bottle opener.

Any fixed blade from 5 to 10 inches.

Fantacy stuff.

Tactical stuff.

Sebenza - Too expensive. I am very unlikely to buy a knife over $150. Most of my Knives are under $50.

Customs - I can't really see myself buying a custom. They are usually very expensive and I don't really have a specific design in mind that I would need custom made. I simply prefer production models.

Cold Steel - I can't explain this one but something about their products irks me.

Balisongs - They are really cool but illegal where I live and I don't plan on moving or breaking carry laws.

Automatics - See Balisongs. 2" autos are okay though.

Pocket Fixed Blades/Neck Knives - Technically they're illegal if I carry them concealed. Also I think they are a bit unsafe to carry. I am paranoid I will stab myself if I accidentally trip and fall.

Wenger - I love Victorninox. I have no interest in Wenger. Another one I can't explain.

Throwing Knives - I don't throw knives.

Sebenza. $300.00+ for a plain jane Frame Lock is something I just cannot justify to myself enough to part with the money for it. Doesn't mean it isn't a great knife though...

Striders for the same reason, pretty much.

Anything over about $150. The "buck for the buck" drops way off for me once I move past say BM 710 or Manix. Hell my Endura does everything i could ask of it.

Anything made in China

Or Pakistan

Or any country but the USA

Any tactical/special ops/recon/survival/rescue/assisted opening/ nonsense

Any fantasy knife

Anything made out of any piece of manure stain-less steel instead of 1095 or CV

Balisongs - Love 'em but can't use 'em
Automatics - Cool but can't use 'em in Cali
Fantasy knives - If I want fantasy, I'll get the dvd
