Knives you WON'T own anytime soon.

I can't believe no one here (including myself) had mentioned Frost Cutlery :barf: . Back in the good old days when I had satellite, watching their infomercial with the two rednecks (the one smarter one, and the other that had to be drunk half the time), was one of my guilty pleasures ;) .

DUDE!!! Best buy in all of cutlery!! :D

I will never but a knife from anyone who lacks honor. I don't care how great or how popular....how reasonable or how great the warranty may be.....no honor=no money from me.

I agree with the united cutlery - found out the hard way.

Also nothing where the handle doubles as a carry case for matches with a compass in the end!

Just no to any fixed blade without a full tang.

Not that I have anything against other makers. I would never denigrate a knife that I have not used, and there are some very fine knives out there.
But, at this point I can not really see myself buying anything further that is not a Busse or a Swamp Rat. I simply have no desire to buy other knives, except maybe a Ruana, whose traditional look I like, and because they are the type of knives I lusted after as a boy.

No fully serrated knives.
No combo-edge knives.
No tantos.
No hawkbills.
No sheepsfoot knives.
No kris-blade knives.
No recurves.
Any knife that has anything to do with Mick Strider. :thumbdn:
Any knife with words on it like "Ripper" or "Navy SEAL" or "Mofo Killer", etc.
Any knife that cost more than $150.00 dollars.

Allen.

There seems to be a lot of people with a set price limit. At one time, I couldn't imagine spending more than $100. Now I'm at $500. The longer you are in this, the more money you will spend and for many knives you definitely get what you pay for. So I'll say the only knives I won't own are ones I don't like or ones that are of poor quality.

I won't buy a Benchmade (until they make a 720/21 with a 4" blade)
I won't buy a Gerber (until they reintroduce the MKII with cats tongue and no serrations and sell it at discount through AAFES)
I wont buy a Strider (until December - see you at the show guys)

Anything from Frost Cutlery, United Cutlery, etc.
Most automatics, since I don't see the advantage over an AXIS manual and such.
No more Strider folders due to QC issue's I've had. I have 2 that are fine, but if they go, no way I'm getting any more. No more Strider fixed blades (overpriced for what they are.)

Cold Steel had that free DVD that was mostly silliness. Some of their knives get good reviews and some don't, it just depends on the model and who made it for them.

Knives I Wont Buy:

Striders

Mad Dogs

Cold Steel

Gerber

Emerson (unless they beef up thier liners, I like his designs)

Dark Ops

Thats pretty much it, everything else is fair game.

Dark ops, cold steel, gerber, smith & wesson, Taylor cutlery, united, frost...
Anything above $150 I'd love to have some Busses and the like but out of my price range.
Kerambits,autos, assited openers, balisongs....
fantasy knives
bayonets
anything with 420,440a,aus4,6
Rambo style "survival" knives
Any Zytel, frn handled folder without liners. They just feel flimsy to me.

TBG

Pretty much anything production I'm moving away from. Tantos and Multitools especially.

It takes a special production knife to catch my eye now.

Yea, it is a sickness. If anything, you develop a minimum price, not a maximum price!

mayo tnt (always looks like a drilled sebenza knock off to me)
emerson folders (chisel ground americanized tantos :barf: )
kerambits

I will not buy a knife...

* From a company whom I couldn't respect the owner/representative for any particular reason.

The last few months have included several buys from:
* Busse/Swamp Rat: Jerry / Jennifer Busse. Eric Isaacson as a representive... Really stand-up, helpful, respectful guys.
* Ranger Knives: Justin & Jenn Gingrich... unbelievable service. These guys DO care if you're happy. Tip top of my book...
* Spyderco: Sal Glesser... I've never seen a post of his where he handled an issue with anything less than total class and respect.
* Victorinox: Elsener, I guess?? I can't honestly say. But I do know that they are not out there "knocking" on Benchmade... ( I know, I know... it was a "joke." I thought it was funny... but bad form.) (Edited 12/11/05 to say: I just bought my first Benchmade, a 635. Oh, well. )

- China
- Pakistan
- Taylor Cutlery, particularly since they bought Schrade
- Sharpened prybars, be it fixed or folder
- Cold Steel- sorry, but bashing 420, then using it doesn't fly
