Knives you WON'T own anytime soon.

Has everyone been here before me?

No throwing knives (qualified with .45 many years ago)
No swords (can't carry...and I'd look particularly ridiculous trying)
Nothing from China, Pakistan, certain E European locations (suspicious steels not wanted)
No kerambits (just can't reconcile the design with my prejudices)
No Gerber (sadly low quality)
Possibly also no Buck
Anything with assisted opening (not THAT old yet)
No Cold Steel (please...)
Absolutely no Dork Ops (have some self-respect left)

But yes, I'd certainly consider neo-tribal, sebenzas, and even tantos (the more classically designed ones).

Suppose we're all different.

Nothing that converts into a cane.
Nothing with a skull anywhere on it
Nothing prefixed with the word ninja or stealth

most of them;i have what i believe, think, contiplated, require, prayed over, discussed, tested, can afford, have not lost yet! i think im gunna get a mini manix.

The obvious cold-paki-frost-anese fantasy items.
AUS anything (CRKT Crawford/Kasper needed to be sharpened far too often)
Metal handles (spyderco police got slippery)
SAK
That goofy Kershaw folder thing (ET)
Folder without Axis Lock (I drank the koolaid)
Fixed without guard
Tanto or tanto-esque points
Machete sized fixed as EDC/camp knife

this one baffles me

why?

Wow many different opinions here, I would have to say that I like sooooo many different knives, and my taste changes so often but there is one thing I just don't like...

BLACK BLADES..........

I will never be on a covert mission and need to hide my knife in the dark, I just hate the way the coating looks after the knife has been used, all scratched up and chipped off....makes me cry, lol, but I don't turn down a black bladed knife in trades since I could always just buff it off...

Types of knives that I like have changed as I get older. I used to have butterfly knives, but not anymore. To me, a butterfly knives are for the teenagers. Looks like they are not matured. So as the autos? I'm not sure but autos are still OK to me. I also don't like black blades, damascus, and anything with the wooden hanle but may change as I get older.

I don't know about balisongs, I would beg to differ...Most of the balisong fanatics that I know have teenagers of their own, how else can they spend thousands to add them to their collection! By having a good job, and some extra spending money!

I forgot to add that although I like fixed blades I don't carry them and don't really have a need for bigger blades like that...Its a shame though because there are soooooo many nice fixed blades out there...

Don't like:
Gerbers (had the lock fail on me once)
Cold Steel (Except SRK)
Benchmade (overpriced, handles are too thick)
Spyderco (if they were women, you'd have to put a bag over their heads)
The usual Chinese/Pakistan/3rd world junk

In defense of:
Autos - I can legally carry them and I love the sound!
Busse/Swamp Rat - Best production blades made, on a cost/performance basis.
Striders - SNG & SMF folders are brutally strong.

Just my .02 cents!

Spyderco (if they were women, you'd have to put a bag over their heads)
:thumbdn: Bah, I'd bang her...sober even!

THIS is an ugly knife.

I just read through nine pages and not one single post knocking Bark River Knives. I have been thinking about getting one and I think it is going to happen now. Let me know if anyone doesn't like Bark River.

"Benchmade (overpriced, handles are too thick)"

Benchmade handles too thick, yet you find Striders acceptable.

?

With strong opinions like these in this thread I can see this getting ugly...lol, hopefully not! Some of us defend our brands too much sometimes like we own the company, lol!

You have to take pretty much everything you read here with a grain of salt. Even I fail at that sometimes.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what I said. For the relatively small thin blades on most Benchmade models the handles are WAY too thick comparatively. Striders have MUCH stronger, thicker blades with commensurately thicker handles. You can do things with a Strider folder that would leave a Benchmade in several pieces.
