Knives you would never buy again!

Although SOG generally gets a bad rap here, I own some older, Seki-made ones that are very good; the best, IMO, being the fixed-blade Tsunami. It even had a very nice leather sheath. I believe it's been out of production for many years now(?). The Seal 2000 was also good, except for the clunky, cheap-feeling sheath. I haven't been interested in any SOG designs for over a dozen years or more now, though.

I have an Al Mar Sere 2K, black-bladed, and with very little use, the detent began acting strangely...going from perfect to little retention. Also, the lock then moved across the blade after that. But I hardly even used it anyway, because it feels too blocky/clunky to carry for me, even though it did feel comfortable in hand when opened. I suppose I could look into sending it back, but just never bothered up to now.

I love the two piece handle. I'd think it would make a knife stronger, without being heavier especially when there's no metal liner on the G-10 side. I just think it looks cool.

I'm just an old dog that can't learn new tricks:). I just cannot get myself to like this type of construction and I have tried with a ZT0550, ZT0561, and a ZT03XX. Used all three for less than a month and they were sold or traded. Just can't do it!

Edited to add that I have no problems with weight on a knife. I like the solid feel it gives, on a quality knife that is.

Sounds like you don't like the ti frame locks. The ZT knives you mention aren't two piece construction, like Striders are. They have liners on the G 10 side, the Striders are a solid piece of G 10, even the backspacer.
SMF compared to 0550 the SMF is a heck of a knife to only weigh 6 oz., just two tenths of an oz. more than the smaller 0550.

Schrade cliphanger. Without a doubt, hands down, the biggest piece of rotten dog shit ever produced by a big name manufacturer. How do they suck? Let me count the ways... First day clip broke. Liners seemed to be thin as rice paper and just as durable. Uneven grinds, horrible edge, would not hold an edge for more than 4 cuts. Flimsy, flexible, yet still snapable handle. Blade flexed then bent just cutting cardboard. Shitty bricklike ergonomics. Laughable failure of a thumbstud. Horrible blade play in every direction. Tips of serrations broke off whittling soft wood. Never again would I own one. Not even on a dare.

Anything strider, sticky locks, late lock up, warranty isn't what ever one claims it to be. I sent my sng into strider with a detailed letter, including e-mail address, phone number, and return address ..and a check for $25. On the note I wrote 3 things I wanted done, fix the sticky lock, fix the late lockup, and the least important resharpen. Only because I was selling it to a gentleman on here. I got it back last week, they thru a bunch of grease in the pivot, and Resharpened it. That's it, still has late lockup and is sticky. I sent them a email sunday asking what can we do about this, no reply. How can you read a letter for a repair, and ignore the 2 most important things I wanted done. Maybe it was a mistake, but not impressed with there service or there sng.

I used to love Benchmade to death. There quality was great for the price points. Personally, I do not like their lock that is so popular to many. I know it is strong, but a good lock should not need that much maintenance. The final straw was their gold line. I bought MANY of these overpriced knives that are supposed to be so special because of their hand finishing. Almost all of them that I bought had more flaws than any of their production models. Seriously, how can a $600 knife have grinding issues, handle burn marks and an uncentered blade.

Hinderer.
I'd rather carry a chisel as I believe it'd cut better than his "slicer" grind.
They're damn pretty but I just don't think that they cut very well.

Todd Begg Bodega Field Grade...

It was actually a loan from a friend, so I'm glad that I didn't buy it. I've wanted a bodega for the longest time since I've seen one. It was probably one of the most exciting knife that was going to come to me, but it was just 8.875″ of disappointment. It just looks and feels cheap from end to end. The fit and finish were unimpressive. The G10 frame with the channel lines to substitute components just made it thing look and feel cheap. The blade finish was just mediocre. The action wasn't even smooth, I can feel the detent ball drag. It doesn't flip any better than my Brous, 0801, 0777, Spyderco Southard, or CRKT Ripple; pretty disappointing for IKBS. I won't take the whole "breaking in" excuse because some lesser knives came to me perfect. Paying that kind of money, it better be perfect when it arrives. If it was a $300 knife then I would understand, but for a $700+ knife that money is better spent elsewhere.

For me anymore its anything gerber, unfortunattly. My very first knife that I paid for was a gerber gater. Bought back in the early 90s. That knife lasted me over 20 years until the pin holding the blade in broke in half. Gerbers customer service did offer to replace it , but I decided to just buy the newer gator 2 that had recently come out. 3 months later I was never happier to lose a knife lol. It would not hold an edge for anything. And the blade was a little loose. Fast forward 5 years or so and I get the Bear Grylls branded lmf 2 look a like. Chipped the frikking serrations on the first use carving on a 1\2 inch thick oak branch. After absolutly loving my first gator, gerber has only given me dissappointment.
Conversly, I see much said about the low qualities of current schrades. Of my three edc knives (spyderco endura4, zt 0350, and Schrade sch104l) its easily a toss up between the endura and 104l which I use more.

Myerco Besh Wedge. The big one. Maybe I just don't understand the purpose but I prefer my knives to be sharp. Or at least, able to be sharpened. After hours of filing I actually got a part of it fairly sharp. Whatever.

If anyone wants to give it a look, you pay postage and I'll send it on. Free. Hell, I might even pay shipping just to get it out of my way.....

Anything plastic/FRN, including spyderco's, sog's. Including my Delica, Dragonfly, Endura, Manix, Aegis, and another sog I can't remember the name. I much prefer g-10 and Ti for handle material, carbon fiber works as well. If I would have avoided all those I could have one maybe two higher end knives.

CRKT M16-14LE. It combines 3 things I'll never do again on a knife: tanto blade, partially serrated, and coated. The rest of the knife is actually pretty awesome, especially for the price. Flips great, AUS-8 is actually fun to sharpen cuz it's so easy, it's light for its size, and it's still rock solid after all these years which I think speaks to the craftsmanship of Taiwan. It is not to be confused with China.

I just have to use the damn thing enough to turn it into an actual useful blade. I wonder how long until those serrations are gone...

I had one. I just added a drop of oil on the detent it was silky smooth. However I did sell mine. Didn't really like how thin the distal taper wasn't and how it was sharpened all the way to the heel of the blade.

Anything made in china that is from companies that aren't kershaw, spyderco, buck.

More specifically I will never own a gerber, I bought an assisted opening one, came dull as butter knife, broke the day I bought it, took it back and bought a kershaw.

Honestly probably no benchmades either. it is not that they are bad knives, they are great knives, but between the size and bulk, high price and obtuse blade grind they just don't end up very high on my must have list. The only benchmade I really wish I still had was my 710 in m390.

Ugh, that's easy.

SOG Gator. It was my first blade besides utility knives, and while it did what it was supposed to do, I always felt like the blade would snap any second. It's thin, too light, extends only about 2 inches into the handle, and it doesn't hold an edge at all. Terrible.

Nowadays I have an genuine Nepalese Khukuri knife, and an Ontario 18" machete, among others, and all excellent.

I won't buy Gerber anymore. Still have old mid 80 s L.S.T folders just after the sale to Fiskars, they were wonderful. Since they moved almost everything overseas they've become a joke. Just awful design wise and quality wise.
