All of my knives I buy, I plan on using. I don't have any safe queens, but I do have knives that I plan on keeping until I die, give them to my sons, or give them to my grandsons. I use the trade forum on BF.com, and love it, but I have a few knives that I plan on keeping. I'm going to keep my 440C Mini Grip (first real knife), my Manix (first awsome/huge knife) and my BM190 (best hunting knife I've owned). When I scratch one of these, I wonder if I will remember making that scratch 20 years from now. I use these knives, so that my kids will get a knife that has history. I remember my Grandpa giving me his Buck 112 when I turned 12. I still have that knife (another one I will be keeping), and it is worth way more than a brand new Buck. Do you have knives you plan on keeping until you give them to your offspring?

I currently use a small Sebbie as my EDC and a Strider at work, but they aren't safe, as they're just tools. The only knives I can say I'll absolutely keep would be ones that I got as gifts, or with sentimental value. They are my Spyderco Kiwi and my Buck 110 which were both gifts and a Wenger SAK that has sentimental value. Everything else is open to being sold or traded for something else.

At least 30 of my Busses are ones that may be sold by my heirs, but not by me.

Case fixed blade my father carried in WWII Original Rigid Apache folder I carried in Viet Nam Randall model 15 I have used extensively since 1974. Randall model 14 I just received last year

Keepers for me (all users):

-CRKT M-16 (One of the first ones thay came out with. It hold some sentimental value)

-Strider SNG because it rocks

-Small Classic Sebenza

-BM 732 Ares

-Case 6344 CV Stockman (one of my favorite small pocket users)

All my new INFI, well, because it INFI! A Busse BIBB, Fire Warden, Scapyard SS4, and my BATAC when it finally ships.

I could add a ton more, but those ones really stand out for me for various personal reasons. :)

Anything with the words "RJ Martin" tacked on it, and a pocket bowie that Gene Ingram did for me in memory of an uncle. Anything else could- in the right circumstances- end up on the block.

Any of my handmade knives - Kreins, Ingrams, Doziers. Oh, and my BRKT's - Rogue and Woodland. Just too good of knives to ever give up.

That's a great question.

I have bought and sold 100's---

Right now I have 2 Siegles I'm in love with

I have a Battle Rat and a Ranger RD-9(that was reprofiled by Bill Siegle)
and a few others I will not sell(not all of these knives are in that catagory)

Unless the price was so high I could replace them and get more.

If I'm offered enough to get a replacement and have $ left over--It's SOLD.

Also-I use all of my knives and can find out REAL quick if a knife WORKS or not---

The ones that do not are SOLD...

I have a few my Grandmother gave me that I will Pass on to my son when he is old enough..

Buck 110, mid-70's vintage, a gift from my Mother who has since passed away.
Spyderco Native III VG-10 PE, one of my all-time favorite EDC's, If I ruin it I'll buy another but I don't think that will happen.
Small Classic Sebenza, Unique Graphic, my first and only Sebbie.
Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout, had it for years, kind of beaten up but still plugging away.

I can tell you that my Peter Atwood Solar Arc is one I will keep as long as I live!!

O.J. Simpson's knife...as long as I have it, he'll keep paying me what i want. Just kidding!

I have a couple of Bud Nealys that I really like and don't see myself getting rid of. Also my Simonich knives. And the knife that my dad gave to me when I was just a yonker. Other than that, I don't really have any high-end pieces.

Jubei

I gave my Boker congress with two dogs on the scales to my little brother, I sold a Buck damascus stag custom shop 110, some others that should have been heirloom pieces. I buy what I like, haven't gotten any real gifts knife wise that were heirlooms. Unless I get Sebenzas with wood inlays, I will most likely hold onto my micarta Sebenzas. Also my Bark River Sandstorm, Scott Gossman camp knife(first custom knife I commissioned), my Swamp Rat Battle Rat will probably stay with me for some time, it is just such a well made work chopper. Other than that, all are fair game as far as I'm concerned.

It took me a long time & effort to find an Emerson SPECWAR A 2001 in a like new condition, so I bought another one... Only this way I could be sure to use one without worries. But I bet many of you undestand me, right? ;)

My Hell Razor and my S1 are definatly keepers. My Ka-Bar it's been with me through a lot of woods. The hunter/skinner that my dad gave me,My first knife ever.Thees are all staying with me.

I still have my first Spyderco ever. A snap-it from the early 90's. I have bought others like it through the years, but the first one will never leave my hands. (It's kind of the knife that pushed me from a social user into a full blown knifeaholic)
