Knives you'll keep forever...

All my Sebenzas, my custom folders and my hand made pcs. will be kept and used. All my other production knives, used or not will go sometime.

I don't think I'll get rid of any of my knives, but the two I'm least likely to ever part with are:

My Strider SnG -- my wife and daughter gave it to me for father's day two years ago, and besides it is an exceptionally well made folder;

My Randall #14, which I got when I went into the Army over 20 years ago.

I have my first Busse on order, a BATAC, and if it comes halfway to advance notice I'm sure it will end up on the short list too.

I'm a bit of a pack rat. I'll likely keep all my blades. Most of them get used at least occasionally.

I will also add that my XM-18's are not going any where!! The "Little Teaser" knife that I got from Patrick Nihiser is staying with me, as is the Limited Edition Active Duty.

My tactical folders come-and-go, but I can see myself holding on to my various SAK's (Waiter, Compact, Huntsman, etc.) and some traditional slipjoint patterns until I give up the ghost. Although, I did go and buy a second BG-42 Military in case the one in my pocket ever ends up missing. :)

Love hearing all the stories of where the old ones came from - makes me really miss that Ka-Bar folder my dad got me when I was around 10 - don't know when I lost that...

I have a Buck 313 Muskrat that I have been carrying since 1972 which was the first year of manufacture, this will eventually end up with my eldest son.

I'm going to keep ALL of my knives forever. I don't sell or trade them. On rare occasions, I'll give one as a gift, but only ones that don't hold too much sentimental value.

I will always keep the RAT-3 and The spyderco military I carried while deployed. I also have a Ka-Bar MULE I got from a buddy that has passed away since I will not rid of that knife in a million years. He gave it to me as payments for sharpening 3 of his fixed blades. He had used the hell out of and I always liked the grip.

Other than the knives my grandfather gave me, the one knife I will never part with (again) is my first custom, Peter Atwood "The Beast". I sold it once and hated myself for it, I saw it up for sale a few months after I sold it and had to have it back. It's a safe queen now.

All of my other knives could go if I had to sell them. Great thread with some neat stories.

Awsome stories behind all of these knives. As I expected, most of the keepers are either passdowns from our fathers and grandfathers, or customs. Thanks for sharing, keep posting.

If i ever get the cash to get myself a custom, i'll keep whatever the first may be. It will probably be a custom 110 as a user version of my first real knife (a 110 knock off, given to me by my dad and engraved by him, which i'll also be keeping) or a Puukko, seeing as i'm half Finnish.

I also may end up keeping my Victorinox alox Farmer, just because it seems to be the toughest most useable SAK ever. Farmers have everything i'd need in a SAK and nothing i don't. It sees alot more use than my one handers and even seems a little more useful in the bush than my fixed blades or one handers. I've had it engraved with my nickname and it's well suited to city carry, which is good seeing as i'm moving in May and doesn't seem to bother folks.

I'll also keep a few old handmade knives by a friend of the family who used to look after me as a child, he has since passed on ( in 97). But he left behind some wonderful oldschool razor sharp pieces. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made during or just after world war two.

I don't sell guns or knives. I may give a knife away once in a while to a friend but I replace it asap.

This one will never be sold nor given away.
