Knives you'll keep forever...

Only a SWAK my grandad gave me about 27 yrs ago...none of my others have any real sentimental value !!!

I'm glad to hear others have an assortment of users and no safe queens. I thought I might be alone in that dept. Since all my knives are users, I have very few "high end" knives and no customs. But these are on my list of keepers. Real value isn't measured in $$$$$

Vic Rucksack SAK: My EDC for 16 years and counting.
Schrade 4th July Comm: Local made knife for a local event

I have a few that are users, and will be around as long as I am alive to use them.

Microtech LCC D/A - has to be my favorite all-around knife for at least 6 years now. Works as well, and locks up as tight as the day I got it.

A. G. Russell Damascus Lockback with Burl handle - My first 'over $100' knife. It's beautiful, and functional, and by some crazy coincidence of random damascus 'miracle' I can see the face of a man in the tang.

Spyderco Kiwi - Received it in trade from a friend who means a lot to me.

Victorinox Swiss Tool - A gift that has seen more action than most of my knives put together. Helped build a house.

14K Gold-handled Puma "Classic" style SAK - My mother received it from her dad when he died, and she promised it to me. It was his retirement gift, and I'll one day carry it, hopefully a long time from now.

Everything else could be gone, for the right price.

I'm a pack rat. I can't bring myself to part with any of my knives, even if they are junk. :)

I don't have a big budget for knives right now, but I figure that my knives will last about 3-5 years each, until I start buying more expensive knives. If I were to pass down some knives, I wouldn't use them.

I have a Harkins when he was just starting out.....An Elishweitz (Spelling?) with blue titanium liners that AG Russell himself sharpened about 20 years ago and a Lynx head Martinni with mirror polished blade with custom sheath my wife gave me on our 25th Wedding Ann. That last knife is going in my coffin with me :-)

A pearl handled Frank Centofante lock back with warn cliff blade that was gifted to me by Frank himself. It is my church going knife.

I plan on keeping all of my knives. Even the ones that don't generate much excitement, like my SAK Rambler and SAK Waiter/Bartender.

But if I had to pick one, easily my Benchmade AFCK, all-black combo-edge.... made before the Axis-lock revolution took over Benchmade. Benchmade liner-locks are a thing of beauty that sadly have become rare. :(

1. One of my two Bark River Mini Canadians. This is the highest quality knife I've ever had, and it is quite usable.

2. SAK Huntsman that I saved for and bought when I was 12. I'd like to pass it to my 1 year old daughter when she's old enough.

The others are good, useful knives but expendable.

Tough question, I don't part with many things.

-An Uncle Henry slipjoint that a friend of my dad's gave me when I was little.

-A small case folder that belonged to my granddad

-An Officer SAK my stepdad got for me, along with a little Camillus military scout folder made in the year of my birth that he got me.

Those are the ones that come to mind, but there are other little ones stashed away. ;)

All the knives that I've been gifted
My Calypso Jr that started it all (I don't count my old Gerber LST as my first knife because of the crap heat treat)
My Paramiltary
My Dozier NY Special (my first custom)

A small pearl handled keychain knife my grandmother gave me before she died. She got it about 40 years ago and bought one just like it for me when I was five and it started my fasination with knives. It took me all of about 5 minutes to cut myself with it and my mom took mine away from me and I never saw it again. I also have a buck 110 that my uncle carried for over 30 years. Both are beat up but they have sentimental value. Most recent ones would have to include my Scott Cook Lochsa, my Mayonized Sebenzas and Limited Edition Sebenzas and for EDC purposes my Micarta Inlay large Sebs perform great on a day to day basis. Not to mention of course my Mnandi that I use at work.!:D

I doubt I'd ever sell any of my knives but this is the one that I cherish the most.
customknife

It's an early Scott Cook (before he went to work for Reeves)

I don't have any safe queens either. Just failed attempts at finding the perfect EDC. I've even used the fixed-blade Boy Scout knife my grandpa passed down to me.
As for knives I'll never part with: All the ones given by family and my Emerson7A. I'd like it if the rest ended up in my kids hands, but only because they're cool knives.

I would have to say the only knife I will keep forever would be my case 3 blade folder. Maybe its a stockman. But my grand pops gave it to me a few years back before he passed. I be sure to pass this one on to my kin.
