Knives you've gifted.

Beyond the Christmas and birthday presents for my kids I gifted a Dozier Straight Hunter to my brother-in-law a couple of years ago.
It was a way of saying thank-you for coming all the way to Alaska to back me up on a spring bear hunt on Kodiak.

Gifted my girlfriend a White FRN Dragonfly that she uses on a daily basis. She absolutely loves it but she said she would like something bigger. She doesnt know that I'm getting her an Emerson CQC-14 that has been de-waved this weekend. Mainly so she doesn't hurt herself when she pulls the knife out of her pocket :D

Not to derail the thread but,
You de-waved it so she wouldn't hurt herself!!? I'd teach her to use it properly, or buy a different knife (there are SO many choices of knives that aren't waved).

When you give a knife for a Christmas or birthday gift you can play with it first to see if it's one you want to buy. :)

I gave a friend a Paramilitary 2. I saw it this weekend and I have to say, he is getting a ton of use out of it. I needed to sharpen it for him but it sure looks used.

Vantage select to a cop friend who led my summer camp. Tanto blur to my mom (who already had a regular blur , and wanted a tanto), and a Buck trapper (can't remember the size.) to my lil bro for his bday

Over the years, I've given away scores of knives as presents, including some really nice customs. My kids have had them, my dad, friends, girlfriends. My last girlfriend ended up with quite a collection, including a nice Lynn Dawson dagger (not a very good pic I'm afraid).

I just gifted a few Gerbers to a friend of mine since I was not using them I gave him a mini paraframe and a paraframe 1 with a plain edge as well as a SOG Flash II partially serrated.

Busse Game Warden to my dad.
Custom knife to my dad.
Cleaver I forged to my dad.
Benchmade Mini Ambush to a friend.
Gerber something-or-other to a friend.
Condor Golok to a friend.
Spyderco Lava, Benchmade 707 Sequel, and a Condor woodworker axe to my wife.
Cold Steel Rajah 3 and a Spyderco Superhawk in the Christmas Gift Exchange.
Spyderco Chinook 3 to my dad, when he won the giveaway at the last Peche Island outing.
ESEE Izula to my brother.
Ka-Bar (the original) to my step-brother.
And the was the "Instant Knife Collection Giveaway" on this forum last year.
And a ZT 0551 and a Cold Steel Mini Tuff to my dad.
And there was that custom skinner to my brother.
And the Buck 882 SBTG to my step-brother.
Plus there's that custom knife I gave to another friend.

Those are the ones I remember right now.:)

I gave away a Ka-Bar short that I didn't want anymore (handle was too small for my hand, and I had scratched up the finish really badly to boot), and I've purchased a Leek, two orange Skylines, and an original Izula to give as birthday gifts to my friends later this year. I'm thinking about giving all my friends Leathermans for Christmas as well.

My brother has gotten an old Western W36, Benchmade 42S, Benchmade 32, Spyderco Delica, Spyderco Native, AG Russell scout knife, and a few others for birthdays and Christmas. My baby sister got a peanut, a pink Victorinox classic and a Queen small stockman. My oldest younger sister got a Cold Steel which she broke trying to jimmy her window, she locked her car keys inside the 4Runner, an Uncle Henry USA 897UH, and her favorite a Kabar Dozier folder. My other younger sister got a Case seahorse whittler. I gave an alox Victorinox SAK to her boyfriend. I gave my father a ton of small slipjoints over the years, including a Case peanut, a whole slew of Bucks and Schrades, and his favorite which he has not been able to lose, a Winchester spey blade trapper. My one sisters boyfriend got a Buck paperstone Vantage and a Gossman PSK that Scott refurbished and cleaned up. I've given my godfather a few knives, including a Buck stockman. My cousin got a black Victorinox sak, and my other cousin, his sister, got a flower print Vic classic that she loves. I've gifted other knives I can't think of right now.

Trying to carry on the tradition of giving a child a knife for a penny, I give them an ol timer 2 blader with permission from dad. My Granpa did it I was so beside myself. Still have it. My friends call me eccentric until I explain the tradition to them.

Funny, I was just thinking the very same thing. I have a pile of Victorian English pennies I save for people who gift me knives.

Three stand out-
Buck 110 Damascus w/stag and Buck 110 Titanium handle to my father for Christmas. The titanium was to replace the old (1970's) 110 he carried and the Damascus was for Christmas. He never used either- just likes to look at them every now and then.
A Buck 303 to my grandfather to replace the Old Timer (another gift from long ago) he had worn out over many years of daily use including cutting carpet. I got both back when he passed away.

I've given some SAK classics and smaller models to family and friends, but the nicest knife I gave was a Case Desk Knife. For father's day, I had it engraved with my dad's name. He uses it all the time, it sits on his desk, and when I visit I clean off the packing tape and touch it up.

I have a buddy who is an outdoors person and as such has had to use/carry knives but knows nothing about what a good knife is or the concept of right knife for the right job. He uses a Tom Brown Tracker as his only knife when backpacking and his only folder is a POS made in china thing with terrible blade play and no pocket clip (so it's never in his pocket). Gave him my SOG Flash II as I don't really ever look at it or carry it and now I NEVER see him without it. He uses it for everything. In true fashion he brought it backpacking with him a week after I gave it to him and when he brought it back he told me the Flash had cleaned three fish and carved the sticks they roasted them on wit no difficulties.

Just goes to show what some of the knives we don't even think are worth carrying can take on if someone is willing to put them to work.

Gave a fellow officer a ZT Mudd just before he took a leave of absence to do an eight month deployment in Afghanistan for the Canadian military. both came backsafe and sound , both still covered in Afghan dirt. I had to resharpen the knife though.

Gave a friend my cold steel 4" ti-lite because he didn't own a knife and I thought he should have at least one. I also gave a friend my dog spec elite 1, he hinted for a long time.
