Knives you've seriously considered buying, but never pulled the trigger on

Posted this list early to another thread a couple months ago, and now I'm only a day late to post on the anniversary of the OP.

Not a big deal, since this is a solo effort. I guess I got oddly invested in the original thread because I had just composed The List not too long before that, and now it's nostalgia.

Maintaining The List is also a way of, I dunno; keeping knife collecting in perspective, I guess? I can take a look at it, and remind myself that this is about wants, not needs.

So, without further waffling, the list of knives I (still) can't justify. For 2022.

Um yeah
Never pulled the trigger???
Here I am: set on full-auto; with an unlimited number of drum magazines...
What he said. Why no belt fed, Bob??😆It helps that I’m a poor (comparatively to some), so I mostly buy what the poors buy. Mostly. Don’t ask about the recent poor decision. BUY ALL THE KNIVES!!!😳

I enjoy yanking and slamming mags! 😁👍
Merry Christmas!

Chris Reeve Sebenza, a large 21. Wanted one, but always had something "better" to do with the ~$400 or so .

Before that, I always wanted one of (any one of) the CRK one piece knives with the hollow handle. But back then I was buying premium battle blades (Camillus, Ek, CRK, Randall) for our Marine son . . .so no.

Now I am back to wanting one of the newer Sebenza models in Magnicut, but I am bought out for Christmas and Valentine
's Day is just six weeks after New Years and my wife's birthday comes two weeks later, so again probably not. . . .not this year or in 2023 I guess. In 2024 we celebrate our 50th, so whatever I have will go towards making that special and memorable le. . . . .

These "Golden Years" are turning out to be Puter.

The recent knife that I have thought about purchasing is a White River FC-PKO.
i’ve been thinking about it for several months but still haven’t.

I salivated over a George Muller folder with mammoth scales, damascus blade, meteorite bolsters, and a thumbstud (he now makes only flippers). But this knife's colors did not work well together. My wife thought he might be color-blind. But I've noticed some south african makers mix colors that are not normally matched together.

I haven’t been at this madness for very long, and I have fairly simple tastes, so the closest I can come to regretting a non-purchase is almost waiting too long on a blue and black Buck 842 Sprint OP’s Pro. It’s one of the first (and few) nice knives I got to handle, and loved it the moment I touched it, but it was awhile until I pulled the trigger. I had it on a few wish lists, and then I started seeing it out of stock or discontinued at a few online stores. Ended up grabbing one directly from Buck before it was too late. Buck still has it listed as available, though there are only 49 left, so I’m glad I got it - I love the knife as much as I thought I would.

Other than that, I was jonesing for a CRK Macassar Mnandi for awhile, but I’m pretty much over it now. Though who knows, in another few years that might end up in this thread.

Let me make this easy for you - the handle is as bad as it looks. Everybody I know of that bought one (myself included) sold it for that reason.
Thanks bro, I was definitely on the fence. And yo I’ve seen quite a few on the secondary market👍🏼.

You must be kidding, I’d be typing for hours. But right this minute an Arcform Slimfoot.

On the first go-round, I was! With the ones that other enablers reminded me about, it ended up being something like 152 knives!

Sebenza

many times thought about it but haven't pulled the trigger yet

I put those thoughts to rest, pretty easily. For a long time, they were too expensive for me. Once I understood that you're paying for the quality control and the top-notch after-purchase support, I had already lost interest in frame- and liner-locks. They were also, still too expensive for me. I get nervous carrying a $200 knife, well before the price range for even an authentic plain jane model.

I’ve been waiting all year for the annual list. I look forward to this thread. I can’t remember all the knives that I’ve once wanted and never bought. But off the top :

Medford Praetorian (especially the Micro)
SHF
Spyderco Shaman
ZT 0640
Southern Grind Spider Monkey (red G10)
LionSteel SR1/SR2
BM AFO

I ultimately ended up buying all the knives I was hesitant to buy with mixed results. The ones that really come to.mind recently are Emerson Mini 15, Ritter, Shaman, Para 3 and Griptilian.

The Ritter I refused to buy when BM made them for the same reason as the Griptilian. The handles. Now the Hogue model is one of my go to favorite folders. I purchased a Griptilian on vacation because at $110 I couldn't find a better deal and it is a really nice knife.

I could go on. I guess you could say I'm particular about what I buy now in my older age and won't spend money unless I'm sure I will like it.

Oh! Um, thank you?

I would say that having things to look forward to is always good, and it's nice to hear that other people are still interested.

May sound silly but a knife i like just because of the name. And yes its a good basic get R done folder too. The Ontario Rat. There i said it. Not expensive and plenty of CRKT and Spydero’s that fit the bill for the task but…..

Any Hinderer or strider. I want to experience to see if the hype is worth it. I have had a hinderer in my cart countless times and never pulled the trigger. I have also always wanted a Southern grind Bad Monkey if they used better steel and a ZT 0707
