Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them

Here is a knife I've not seen before based on the NightHawk.

Sold out of Daly City, California. This is one of the things you get when you search the USA under the key words "swiss buck" on the auction site. This puts the real Swiss Buck knives under 50 feet of crap.

Question to everyone about the fake Buck Vanguards on eBay. What are their handles made of hard plastic or rubber like Kraton?

And what are the AUTHENTIC Buck Vanguard handles made of, hard plastic or Kraton?

I ask because I want to tell the fakes from authentic when I see them 'used' here in the US in an antique shop, gun show etc.

The aspect of giving of negative feedback is a nice idea...However, eBay will not allow negative feedback, especially from a seller even if the buyer fails to pay. I scroll down to the "Report an Item" and log it as counterfeit. To date I have logged over 10 items and not 1 has been removed. One seller has a Buck Anniversary with nice pictures of everything but the USA. I checked with a magnifying glass but still could not read as it was so blurry. It was obvious though that the writing was longer than USA.
I wrote him to which he responded that he had no idea it could be a fake. He took a new picture and on the listing put made in Taiwan. Seems like the only affect it had was make more people bid

I've flagged some obviously, clearly counterfeit items on eBay using their 'Report An Item' feature. I'm not aware of any of them being taken down by eBay mgmt.

There is one on the bay that looks pretty real but has to be a fake. Its a hartsook listed for $5.99. Description says steel 440 but picture looks like a real hartsook with the s30v logo. .

Why in the world would you want to buy something you know is fake and spend that kind of money for it? Heck if I know if the would ship.If a company is dishonest in one area why would they not be dishonest in another?

It's a crime to make them.

It's a crime to import them.

It's a crime to sell them.

And you what to know what we think?

Good comm guys. If someone wants something on the other side of the line just do not answer them. If things get out of hand just send me a message and I will bring in the artillery. I can understand someone wanting to play a joke but when we are fighting against the stuff of that joke we do not have to provide answers.

Photo by seller.... I've never seen this one before. Unusual tang stamp with a single dot after "USA."

Hi Haebbie,

Glad to see you well back in Germany. In another forum (search this website) Boker (Germany) is stealing the designs of Becker Knives (now made by Ka-Bar) and using 440 steel. Some have shown up on US ebay and many knife nuts are not liking Boker for it. I feel bad for Boker USA trying defend such actions and they have no control over it. Fake counterfeits are not just a China thing it's also coming from some big knife manufactures also direct like Boker.

Glad to meet you at the 25th BCCI.

I just created an account so I could post this here. I unfortunately just bought one of these at a flea market. It was supposed to be a gift for a friend who collects knives, but thanks to the op and all of your responses I know not to make a fool of myself giving it to him. I hope to get my money back next week. The vendor probably didn't know, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I spent $25 on it.

First thing is the quality of the sheath. It's very flimsy, obviously fake leather. It says Buck knives on the front and 2008 on the back. It would probably fall apart after a little casual use.
The blade is about 5 1/2 inches. The only markings are USA Design 2008. I thought I was buying a gently used knife, but the nicks on the metal and handle aren't what seems to be from normal use. There are small random gouges here and there. I tried to take clear pictures of some. It is full tang. The handle is not completely flush with the blade and you can see where probably wood glue was used to fill in the cracks between the metal and the handle. Once I got a good look at it, the quality of the craftsmanship is not what I expected from a Buck. I should have known better when I bought it, but the lighting at the market was very poor. I asked the vendor "Doesn't Buck normally put their name on the blade?" but he said that sometimes they didn't. If anyone wants more photos, let me know. Forgive my photography skills (rather the lack thereof)

I'm happy to have found this forum, so something good did come from this blunder. I do have a small collection of knives I use for my hiking trips, and I am fascinated with them, but know very little. You all have to promise to help me out here and there ;)

This one just sold on the bay for $14.99 and free shipping by a seller out of NC with almost 1200 positive feedback and a 99.9% rating.

I'll bet 99.9% of their customers don't have a clue. I sure wouldn't have.

The sad part of this is when what they think is their quality Buck knife fails. They may just toss it and never buy a real Buck knife again.
