Ouch! I feel this, I once got a pristine NIB Case 31....that immediately jumped out of my pocket and divebombed the concrete driveway.Well, I can definitely, for sure, say the shine is knocked off my City Stock. Dropping it down some steel knurled stairs (12) and onto the concrete floor will do that. Haha.

Welcome. That’s a beauty to get involved with.Late to the party but this inspired me to give this thing a test drive. I got it in not so long ago but it was just too nice looking. Begged to be used though. Went through some fruit and packages today, I swear I had a before picture butView attachment 2832119View attachment 2832120
I will try my best lol. Usually when I get the itch to change I can add one in the pocket and toy with it, but use this "main" for cutting tasks and that will be enough. I don't know that I've gone a whole 30 days though so a good test of willpowerWelcome. That’s a beauty to get involved with.
Good luck, i myself found it pretty hard to just stick to the one knife over 30 days.
I’d certainly knocked the shine off but only carrying that single knife for so many days?….. psssh good luck
Edit: I also have a 32 (hemlock) that I’d love to knock the shine off properly too.. I think I’d find that easier than the specific 39 I’d attempted with.
Sure, that would do it. I use the Flitz brand and I assume it's about the same. I bought a small tube years ago and it's still pretty full. It also works well removing the small superficial bolster scratches. So all the people with the patina on the carbon steel blades... If someone wanted to clean that off, is that why Case Paste exists? I doubt most anyone here wants to clean off the patina, this is just for curiosity since I'm not sure what Case Paste would be used for otherwise.
I'm not sure about the case eraser specifically - I bought a set of rust erasers on Amazon and caution their use on nice knives. They definitely do the job but can and will mess up your finish in a hurry. So all the people with the patina on the carbon steel blades... Edit to add, also asking because I've seen the Case Eraser set that is supposed to be for cleaning blades.
I have some case paste that I use occasionally to clean up a knife, it works just fine. Also good for polishing bolsters and other metal. So all the people with the patina on the carbon steel blades... If someone wanted to clean that off, is that why Case Paste exists? Case paste does work to remove the patina and polish up a blade. I have a cv large stockman that I thought the patina looked weird on and I took case paste and polished it and it went back like brand new. That is the only time I have done it but it did work, if that's what you wanted to doSo all the people with the patina on the carbon steel blades...
