Knocking off the Shine 30 Day Challenge

now the fun stuff, the vdb? 1955 double die? steelies? only pennies for you or ...?

Typically just cents. Mostly interested in Lincoln cents but have a handful of Indians and large cents as well. I like nickels too but only keep ones older than 1950 and I've never actually "collected" them. Just fill up holes in a book and put the war nickels in flips.

Haha, I don't have the S-VDB yet. That's something to work towards. It'll probably be a very large knife and watch sell off to get a nice one. Lol!

I've been working on upgrading what I had and maybe adding some missing key dates. 31s is next. Maybe 14D.

I don't really collect the double dies or errors but I'm sure the bug will hit me someday.

There's a few pages of the steel ones in my book. It was always fun to find them. I have some from my grandpap that he marked BU and AU and they are all dark and tarnished! Haha. I guess that is just what happens.

I've inherited all the Lincolns that a great grandfather collected and all the Wheaties that my grandma, great aunt and aunt have collected through their lives. It's been fun to say the least.

This one still probably won't be my favorite knife ever, but it'll probably end up in the rotation. It's a nice back pocket knife. it's darken up quite a bit this week as I've been eating a fair amount of apples 🤣 I like to slice them in half and take a wedge out to remove the pit.

I've tried not to baby it much. Just tossing it in the pocket. I don't keep my knife and keys in the same pocket, but if they end up together I don't stress about it.

Congratulations! Today's a month, right?

Only 5 more days, but I'm considering keeping it going another month. 🤔 but that might be a little masochistic 🤣
😂😂

Next month is my birthday month, I’m thinking about breaking in a special one 👍

Otherwise I’d keep going with this Churchill.

I think it's safe to say the secondary on this one is wasted on me. 🤣
I don't have mine anymore but the pull on the pen was killer IIRC. It was a really cool knife I just didn't use it. You got one of the nice darker ones!

Less than a week to go!

I started this challenge on vacation at the beach. The first thing I used it on was a filet of Mahi-mahi (not that I even needed a knife for this) and the blade took a nice deep patina. I have used it to cut a bunch of food since then, hamburger, steak, sausage, cheese, etc.. and I've not seen much change which tells me that the original fish patina is holding strong. Pretty cool to see how patina will protect the high carbon blade steel.
