I like the critter.

Do a search for Tormek. I wouldn't buy one personally just because I believe there is better equipment, but some (usually long time users) swear by them.

Edit- I re-read what I wrote. I don't mean to imply that it's not a good, or even great, machine. There are certainly features that got me looking at them in the first place. It just isn't the machine for me.

I DO think you should research the sharpener against the competition, but I think that of most products.

I now looking in Europe for a something like tormek but horizontal.
2x horizontal rotary wet stone sharpeners
First with 500 grit, and second with a 4000 grit.

Tormek is a precision sharpening machine. I just invested on one and I'm very happy with it.
However, the disadvantages of the tormek against those other system is... it is slow and expensive :-(
....but I don't mind :) as long as it does the job.

Also, you would rarely make an error, since it has a jig that you could set at an angle you desire.

So I got into the grant project from ESF Project 6.2 :D
In the start of 2014 I going to a 90h of course (about all this paper stuff, taxes, basics of starting a business etc. ...)
Maybe in March I'll be a total knifemaker :D
(Don;t worry I will buy subscription when company start ;) <- to the mods )

And I think about a:
- 2x Evenheat CE-KF-22,5 knife ovens, ( + in next 5 months a totally pro kiln from Kepka Group for 5.000$ with inert gas work)
- 1x WS-15 Drill ( PL made)
- 1x KMG belt grinder with inverter
- 1x 300mm Grinder wheel ( for KMG)
- 1x 20mm grinder wheel ( for KMG)
- 1x 90l cabin sander
- lot of small tools.

And when time come for modernisation then I buy :
- 1x surface grinder
- 1x Rockwell meter (digital)
- 100kg Anvil
- Build a tire hammer with 25kg hammer
- And I will start with Ceracote..

You have been a knifemaker for a good while now. Either get a membership....or remove your posts about selling knbives and the photos of your knives from your posts.
