Koyote Knives Leuku Bushcrafter Passaround

You are a FAR better photographer than I. Something I really need to work on.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to type "I'm laughing because the lack of angularity is one of the main things people LIKE about the handles" without sounding like a bastard

I wasn't referring to the handles when I mentioned "angular." I was referring to certain blade shapes and features. Yours seem to blend like they were somehow grown or finessed that way instead of under a CNC mill with a crisp, precision look that you find in lots of production knives. I was just pointing out how yours are unlike the majority of the blades out there.

OK fellas.

The list is updated in the order the knife will ship. It will move from east coast to westcoast, then back to me. There will be a list with addresses of the the order in which it ships in the box. Please do not loose it and make sure it stays in the box as you ship the knife out to the next person.

I will hook up with Mike and get him the knife this week. He will use the knife and is being kind enough to get the knife in like new condition for the rest of you. When he borrowed my other knives he returned them in immaculate condition and extremely sharp!

We don't expect you guys to ship it all polished, but please sharpen it to the best of your abilities before you ship it on.

Right on Tony....

Sounds freakin sweet. I love this knife so far. Cant wait to try it out!!

I have to say I like the overall shape and size of this knife a lot. The straight forward all business look of a knife always appeals to me.

Tony,

I got your e-mail - it was in my junk folder. I verified and sent back. I would advise others to check their junk mail as it may have slipped in there! :)

It's definitely unlike a lot of stuff- part of it is philosophical, I tend to think that tools should follow bodies, and bodies are organic. Part of it is the way I work- I don't have a mill and except for roughing up tangs before attaching scales I pretty much just don't use the platen on my grinder. Almost the entire blade and handle sanding process is slack belt.

That's interesting and it makes sense. My point was that yours stand out because they definitely don't look like they are cookie-cutter knives, stamped out by a factory, not that there's anything wrong with that. A good and functional design works if it's purely CNC'd, mid-tech built or made solely using the hands and eyes of a craftsman.

Again, I really look forward to gatting my hands on this tool!

That is awesome Christof.

That’s totally cool Christof,

...I too have moved away from platen and wheel grinding, and love the more organic shapes I get using the slack belt.

Plus I find my grinder is so much sweeter to use when I’m slack belt grinding.

That's why Christoff is making me a traditional leuko with a barrel shaped handle. He saw my body :D Maybe I can still convince him on the wasp-waste part :D

Thanks for putting this together Tony.
I can't wait to try out one of Christoff's knives.

This actually explains why my eye cannot get used to your blades. I am excited to see if my eye matches my hand.

Really cool things don't often LOOK right when you are first exposed to them.

Ofcourse, really bad things don't look right for a reason. ;)

Ok boys, it has begun.

Big Mike has the knife. So keep an eye out for his review in the next 4 or 5 days or so.

Remember, It will be greatly appreciated if you guys use the knife as quick as possible. We understand weather and work can impede the time in which you pass this on. If you think it will take more than 5 days to give the knife a good workout please let me know. I have no problem with you taking a little longer, I just don't want it to sit in the draw because you forgot about it. Please post when you get it and when your done using it. If 5 days go by with out me hearing from you, I will annoy you with a phone call.

Respectfully,

Tony

I’ll be getting it out in the woods over the next few days,

…freezing my ass off, and loving it.

Man, I must be one of the few guys who has always really liked the look of Christof's stuff :D The first one of his that really caught my eye was a bushcrafter in tan mircata. I really like his modern seax style blades too!

Guess I'm in the minority with you, if a minority we are. I love the look of Christof's blades, especially the leku pattern. I like smooth, curvy lines and fat comfy handles. I like the look of wood handles and a forge finish/blued/patina blade. Usually go for micarta handles on my knives, but wood looks great, especially on the more "organic" patterns Christof makes. Just seems to fit better that way.

I suppose I should buy one of his knives sometime...

Yes you should, but then it will lead to more of them! I have 2 right now and am waiting to see what this little passaround feels like...
