Kukris?

I have some hunters and skinners, even a Jason Knight Jurassic Bird & Trout so I should have the karma covered.
Lol..auto correct "fixed" karda for me to read karma but you know what I meant. :)

No, the kaudi...the cho--the notch below the blade. Keeps the blood off the handle.

I replaced my karda with a KaBar Acheron. Works nicely.

Come by and check out Himalayan Imports under the maugacturers forum. Authentic and very usuable Khukuris, very affordable, and much better choppers and/or weapons than other KLO's made by other manufacturers, these are the real deal.

Take a look.

Dui Chirra 17"

Ang Khola Bowie 15"

My modest Himalayan Imports collection - this is a very small collection compared to their regular offerings, and exotic oferings as well.

Once you get a HI Khukuri, you will never look at another KLO ever again, guaranteed.

darn it cul, my hikv is bad enuf without you making it worse:p. nice collection tho, how is that yek chirra?

It's a Dui Chirra, and it is sweet! The handle is so ergonomically done that the blae basically swings itself, and it handles extrememly well. It's balance point is about 1.5" past the cho, it is weighted forward (like a khukuri should be), but not too much. It's goingt to be heeluva chopper, just like a Foxy Folly khukuri. If I ever get to pick one of those up, I'll do it in a heartbeat!

Nice frog on that sheath.

I need a frog !! I can't find a frog !

What would you recommend doesnt have to be fancy or anything

I would get a KVLUK user khukuri from Himilayan Imports they run about $65 with no sheath, and they come up on the DOTDs quite often. The make great field/yard knives, backed by the same incredible warranty as all their knives, sharp, and well balanced for yard work. The come in a variety of lengths, and weights.

A KVLUK is a traditional khukuri used by the Nepalenese people in their villages. Check them out, ask about info, ask for a photo, at the Himalayan Imports forum, here on BF, and you will find a lot of help from the members there, it is a fantastic forum, and the members are all friendly, and extremely helpful and knowledgable.

Many members there like to use the lighter blades for light yard work, such as an 18" - 25" Sirupate, Kobra, or Gelbu Special, for heavier chopping yardwork, the would probably suggest a 15" - 18" Ang Khola, Chiruwa Ang Khola (warranted for use as a crowbar), ASTK, M43, British Army Service, Bonecutter, or WWII.

For your first one I'd stick with one of the Nepali importers all the kukri people here talk about. So many models and designs out there you just have to start looking.

There have been five or six kukri threads in this forum over the last month or so. You might search those for more info.

I got a khukuri house khukuri
15 incher if I'm not mistaken. Not overly fond of it TBH. Its way too heavy to use for any length of time or to camp/hike with. I do keep it in the trunk for deer hunting. Occasionally someone in my group gets a deer thats just too big to fit in a trunk of a car. It is phenomenal at decapitations and limp removing though.

This is from GK&Co. Kukri House. The Rajah 3 is for size comparison.

The blade is just over 10 inches long and about 3/8 of an inch thick. It has the traditional rat tail tang. Weight is about 1.6 pounds.
