Lanny's Clip Thread

Glad to help. I've been eyeing this pattern for years, since I've decided to get one, I tried to do a survey of the ones on google image search to determine what qualities I liked about them to include in my custom. Now that I've identified them, it seems all but a few (smaller size, and a lanyard tube or capped end) are available on the Case version, which is what makes the decision so hard for me.
 
Here are two by Phillip "Doc" Hagen, Sambar stag and desert ironwood burl, both in CPM 154. Very nice hand ground blades with deep cut swedges. I look forward to pics of what Lanny's you end up purchasing.

Lookin' good! How does it compare to the Keith Johnson you posted in the totin' thread yesterday? EDIT: after looking through your post history, you have a lot of customs and more than a couple Lanny's. What's your honest opinion of the Case build quality vs the customs?

Folks with the Case/Bose version:
What's your opinion of it? Is it on par with the customs? Can someone take a picture of it next to a common GEC knife (77, 15, or 72, or Fremont jack would be awesome) so I can more accurately gauge size compared to something I have? Thanks folks!

Well thanks to the generosity of another member here, I have a Case/Bose Lanny's clip inbound. And at such a great price that I should still be able to afford the custom if I love it as much as I think I will! Thanks Dave!

Glad to hear you finally landed one! I'm sure you'll love it. The Lanny's pattern is my favorite pattern to collect. Be sure to post up pics once it comes in!
 
Only recently decided to make the jump soon into custom slipjoints and a Lanny's clip is definitely the pattern I want. Amazing photos and work here to help me figure out/narrow down what I'd like in one :)

Here's one I had the Doc make me a year or so ago. Foolishly I sold it in pursuit of something else. Would love to have it back ...


... might have to get on the books for another.
 
Beautiful RDFinn. I'm finally on Bret's books for 2 1/2 years down the road for his superb work and something like this is in my sights
