Lanyards!!

As others have said, I also make fobs with snake knots for my folders. Here are the "whys":

1. Easier grab from the pocket when necessary or when I really don't want to fumble (standing on a ladder, etc)

2. I use bright colors to increase visibility for retrieval when they have been set down or dropped, etc. I am very habitual when it comes to where and how I set them down, but this has prevented a lost blade once so far. Rescue orange stands out nicely against ground cover in foresty places :)

3. I can drop my hand back so I have two fingers on the handle and two on the fob for leverage, as has been said. I don't do a lot of chopping with folders (or in general), but I have done a little as well as single snap-chops with my ZTs. It works surprisingly well with the ZT Hinderer handle shapes that fatten at the back and tend to also have jimping in that area. Again, not a common thing, and I wouldn't try to drop a tree this way, but it has been an occasionally handy option.

4. With a skinny handle, a cobra knot lanyard can be laid flat against the palm side to add some dimension and help mitigate hand fatigue over extended use.

I love a lanyard with a nice heavy bead on the end.

Also, it helps to put a little superglue on your end knot so that it doesn't come undone and lose your precious beads:thumbup::thumbup:

Nice ties, man. Some of those would look awfully good done with a leather coil, too.

This might be a dumb question, but are lanyards functional beyond having some extra paracord if you need it?
I'm not really a lanyard guy, only on my Mini grip for a better grip, the handles are smaller then I expected... for me it does the trick ;)

I went a little crazy on the Box Knot Lanyard for some of my knives.
