Large (4in) Flipper Recommendation

I appreciate everyone chiming in. I'm closely looking at some of the suggestions here, though at this point I feel like if I choose anything BUT the zt 0452 I'm likely to get swarmed :)

There are a lot of knives that meet your qualifications.

As my list indicates, 4" knives comprise a specific subset of my collection and, while I'm a fan of the 0452, it's certainly not my favorite in this category.

No one should give you any :poop: for picking the knife that you like best.

Just let us know which one you choose and why.

buy once cry once… can’t go wrong with a shiro if you are looking for a flipper.

Another endorsement of the ZT 0452.

Check the Emerson cqc 8. It’s literally the knife you described in your op.

It meets your original criteria of a sub-$400 4" flipper, and is a US-made, true 4" folder with superb action and great design. I wish it had a thinner blade stock or a hollow grind to improve the cutting performance, but that's it. It's pretty much exactly what you asked for. Other than that, I think the Kansept that el gigantor el gigantor posted looks really interesting if you're fine with Chinese production. I may check that one out myself.

I have a 0452 in Magnacut that I got well under your budget, and it's a fantastic knife in more ways than just what you mentioned. If you really want to stick to your specs, you really can't go wrong here.

Just depends what you're looking for. I don't tend to like grip designs that push your index finger that far back from the blade. I do like Emerson's thumb screw deployment design, though I don't care much for the Wave opener. I also assume the OP is looking for a top flipper, but I could be wrong.

I get it, and I was just joshing about the zt. I’m sure it’s a great knife. I will say though, that handle shape is probably my favorite of all handles. Really locks into the hand. The majority of my Emersons are pre 2017 but I can say without a doubt from handling his current knives that he’s greatly improved the action. They come flickable out the box. I had to break mine in for a few months to be able to flick em. I have a couple of his flippers which are on bearings and they’re as smooth as can be. Shockingly impressive.

I am still looking for a 4 inch blade flipper knife. The QSP Gavial looks interesting for a cheap made in China liner lock knife. I would prefer to stay away from a liner lock made in China knife though. I have 2 Benchmade 806 AFCK's and they are great but I prefer a flipper. Leaning heavily towards the Zero Tolerance 0452. If the ZT 0452 had a clip point, I would have already had one.

How about the Hinderer XM-24? You'll have to wait for a drop of your preferred blade shape, unless you can find one in the Exchange.

If you can find one, the Spyderco K2 is a beast. The military and military 2 are excellent knives as well. Whoops I missed the flipper requirement 😂

Camillus "Cuda Maxx".
Double edge dagger Bade of D2 at 5,5"'.
Titanium frame locking handle.
Flipper.

This is a GUT RIPPIG THROAT CUTTER

Cheaper but smaller.

CRKT M18 or M21 (same blade, different handle)
Just under 4" blade of AUS-8
Liner lock aluminum handle
flipper

This is a pocketable EDC utility knife with a speat point blade.

We has a pretty sweet new release on the bigger side, flipper button lock integral with 3.81 blade in M390. The We 702xi, in typical We fashion it should be extremely well made, good heat treat, great action

Huge fan of the QSP Penguin Plus, but the 0452 still gets my vote.

I've considered the regular Penguin, the Kaviso exclusive has some cool unique hardware and cool materials combos, Elmax. And it's only $109! Just haven't pulled the trigger.

I agree the zt 0452 is my number one pick in this category, such a great piece. Feels fantastic in use. Still need a zt in the collection, I will probably end up with the 0450 though.
