Large Folder for EDC

I carry a Contego at work. I like a 4" folder for my work knife. I prefer something a little sleeker off duty.

I also really want a Spyderco Police. When I was a rookie that was a knife that a lot of the old timers carried and I have always wanted one.

I've been experimenting with different sized knives. I"ve been increasing in size slowly from a 2.6" LM Crater to a BM 15020-1 Bone Collector. IMO, it really depends on the person's daily activities (e.g. what tasks and how they use the knife) and population/laws of their location (e.g. 1 million+ population city vs 300 population town). However, for now, I've really grown fond of the BM 520 Presidio. I carry that in a Gerber Customfit Dual Sheath. I tried a BM 550 Griptilian from their custom shop... great knife, but it kept leaving me with Presidio withdrawal. Currently I'm EDC'ing a BM 15020-1 Bone Collector in a Vic Swisstool pouch. The 15020 is more comfortable than the 520, buts gives up traction for that comfort. The 15020 is also the only knife that doesn't leave me with 520 withdrawal... much. This makes sense, since the blade/handles are interchangeable. Since I feel naked without a multitool with pliers + scissors, I pair that with a LM Squirt PS4.

I find that I really prefer thick handled knives which allow a strong, choked up hammer grip yet still natural-feeling, saber grip + a little traction... at least for my current daily activities. It's hard to find a thick handled, one hand opening, knife with the aforementioned criteria with much less than a 3.5" blade unless I actually carry an old-school style box cutter. However, I am considering changing my EDC to the 15020's little brother, the BM 15030, and replacing the Squirt with my LM Juice CS4 (currently always EDC'ed in my work briefcase) depending on what other EDC changes I might make in the future.

These are my larger folders. The Benchmade 710 is the most comfortable to carry.

I carry the ZT 909 several times a week. I like big folders too.

Strider SMF has always been my favorite large EDC knife.

I like large folders quite a lot, though I do typically pair them with a SAK. Spyderco Manix 2 XL, Pacific Salt, and my Viper Rhino all get a fair amount of pocket time.

I carried my CS Espada Large a couple of times. It keeps getting easier every single time. :)

I like folders in the 3.5-4" blade size. The ones that fit that size that I carry most are:
Benchmade 761

Been carrying a zt 804cf for a few weeks. Light and well made. Plus, it's a flipper don't you know...

908bk-1501 and CRK Large Inkosi CF
Maybe a 0452cf if I owned one.

That may be THE BEST looking benchmade I have ever seen. In that pic it reduces the sebbie to the homely sister, and that ain't easy to do.

Spyderco Military. Big sharp blade... a lot of good steel for the money. To me, the best large edc folder for the money.

I have been carrying my OKC RAT1 for over a year now. Lately I have been 50/50 between the RAT1 and my ZT0550. Im loving the 550.
