Largest Folding Knives ?

I carry a cold steel vaquero grande in my right pocket everyday, and I have to reach down and feel for it to make sure it is there. Blade is serrated and 6" long. In my left pocket I carry a Microtech Ultratech, Surefire L1 CREE, and cell phone. I also have a Glock on my side either a G26,G19,G17, or G20 if I am in the woods and need to stop a black bear, with double tap 10mm beartooth ammo.

Cheap cr@ppy lockback I bought off Ebay as a novelty:

I know it's as ugly as sin :o

Sorry to have to agree with you on its ugliness, Orpheous, but it sure makes the Bladeforums post in the background look nice! ((( :D )))

I've had a Buck 317 Trailblazer in my toolbox for 25 years and fortunately
because it looked so nice I hardly ever used it and instead used
a bunch of cheapo chinese knives to do a lot of nasty dirty work.
My nephew had seen it and mentioned he would like one like it
and I went online only to find that six or eight of the biggest knife
makers that I knew of dont make any folding knives that large anymore.
I just assumed I would have dozens to choose from.

Now what I'd like to know is does any quality brand name mfg make
folding knives as large as 5.25 inches or larger (closed)?
What happened to the concept of folding to make more compact
and safe ? If I had had an open knife in my tool box for 25 years
I would be all cut up when digging around for stuff.

Way back when I thought there were some folding knives bigger
than the one I bought. ? ? ?

If you do an image search for the Buck 317 on Google, you'll get a couple of hits, and you may find one for sale. If your nephew really wants one like yours, that may be the way to go. (There's also eBay.) Otherwise, that new Benchmade 'folding bowie' looks mighty tempting . . .

thx - cpr

The biggest folder i have is an Opinel also, its silly big though, its a display novelty bad boy i got from my friend in France after his dad closed up their shop. its more like a short sword really :D

I have one of those too. It's about 20 inches long when open. I've never used it for anything other than pulling it out to cut a steak at a cookout as a joke.

I know this is an old thread but I thought if anybody was reading this still looking for a larger folding knife it would be good to add a couple I did not see already. I don't own either of these knives but was considering a larger folder for the novelty aspect, for bigger jobs, self defense .....just for an excuse to spend more cash on a knife maybe.

-Anyway, Kershaw Junkyard Dog 2 is a larger folder and the composite blade with copper trim, it is pretty cool. I have always liked my Kershaw knives and they have great customer service.

-A big folder would be the Rajah II by cold steel, it's not as big as the Espada series X-large but nice looking. I only own a Delta Dart (Nightshade Series) by cold steel that is made out of Grivory but I cannot comment much on the quality or the service.

Hmmm, never once saw mentioned the Cold Steel Espada Extra Large, ya know, the one with the 7.5 inch blade. I have the Large with the 5.5 blade. Nice knife, holds an edge well. Could not imagine packing the Extra Large, it is quite a handful.

That is because the thread is from 2007.

You are right though. It is the biggest.
