Largest Folding Knives ?

I carry a cold steel vaquero grande in my right pocket everyday, and I have to reach down and feel for it to make sure it is there. Blade is serrated and 6" long. In my left pocket I carry a Microtech Ultratech, Surefire L1 CREE, and cell phone. I also have a Glock on my side either a G26,G19,G17, or G20 if I am in the woods and need to stop a black bear, with double tap 10mm beartooth ammo.

If you double tap a bear with a 10mm, he will probably be mad enough to eat you from the feet up instead of politely (head first)

I'm too impatient to read all the posts so maybe these knives have already been mentioned but other than the Vaquero Grande mentioned above [ I've got a cool old version which came with a kydex sheath] there's also the CS large Espada [I've got it] the extra large Espada [ don't got it], the Rajah 1 [ got it] the Rajah 11 [don't got it],the Spartan [got it] , the two 6" blade versions of the Tilights [ got em both]. Someone also mentioned the Sog 5" spec-elite [got it] and the 5" pentagon elite [ yup,got it] I've also got the large BM Rukus although at 4.25" it may not seem all that large compared to the knives above . I also have the old Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn "combat folder" which has a blade size roughly equal to the Rukus.
Darryl Ralph makes some very nice large folders but they're simply out of my price range.

Mikkel Willumsen makes some of the biggest, strongest folders I've handled. One of these days I'll be able to buy one.

How could I forget? CS also makes a number of 5" Voyaguers including the 5" tanto [ got it ] the 5" Vaquero [got it] as well as 5" and 6" clip points which I don't have, because I don't like the look of the blade shape at all. They also make the 5" Gunsite tanto which is virtually indentical to the 5" Voyaguer tanto and which I will definitely get when the delayed new 5.5" model comes out in 2011. Something to live for.

Too lazy to look and see if I already posted, but my biggest are an Ontario Hossom Retribution I, and a Darrel Ralph HTM MADD MAXX. Either one I carry carries well in my right front pocket.

I know its not what your looking for but a opinel 13 is quite large :)

EDIT: Charlie beat me to it.

Is that what my knife is?

The largest opinel currently is a opinel 13, It looks like it is one to me.

If you are looking for a LARGE folder, take a look at the Cold Steel Ti-Lite, with the 6 inch blade. I have one, and it's a folding sword!

Cool! I got as payment for double edging a Becker Companion for TheCarbideRat.

Right now my Demko Navajah and CS Spartan are my largest folders. For EDC 4.5" is perfect and anything over 5.5" is just uncomfortable. By now the Opinel 13 is back with it's owner and though it was cool to borrow for a few weeks, it's not something practical. I have a DDR HD Maxx at Reese's shop waiting for a bit over a year  to get some L/R tip up holes tapped. Once I hear from him, I'll prolly add it to the large waved right pocket rotation.

The Darrel Ralph/ Camillus CUDA MAXX and MADD MAXX patterns were offered with 5.5", 7", and 9" blades. I still need the 9" model. It is 1/2 yd. long when opened.

No shit?!?

I had heard pf the Gibbs Maxx but a 9 incher?

As an update, I just made a trade for a Cold Steel Rajah 2 to go with my 6" blade Ti-Lite. The Rajah 2 has a 6 inch blade, but opened, the total length of the knife is 14 inches! The Rajah 2 is a massive folder.

Anyone say the Cold Steel Espada? I don't know how big the blade is, but I think it's almost ten inches. They have three sizes - M, L, XL.

cold steel vaquero grand is a huge ass knife, but cold steel.
Oh, come on! Cold Steel makes exceptional knives. They're well designed, the heat treat is exceptional and they make large folders.

A number of years ago they issued a number of knives with 440A steel, which isn't very well regarded here, but the knives got good reviews, came out of box so sharp they cut people and, frankly, CS's 440A was better than most other companies' AUS8.

The knives had exceptional locks, came with 5- and 6-inch polished blades (while other companies had ugly bead blast finishes) and they couldn't be easily destroyed. Other companies continued to use liner lock designs, which were becoming increasingly unpopular with knife users.

This isn't to say liner locks are bad, but they were what most of the "cheapies" used and they're not the strongest on the market, which is why CS doesn't use them.

One knife I like is the Ti-Lite, which cuts, digs weeds and is good for self defense. But any of the 6-inchers could do it. And today, there's not a folding knife that's as strong or as big as some of the CS knives, especially the Rajah II. The Rajah can chop wood or ice, while the $450 pocket knives have a hard time trimming one's nails.

But there's a place for all knives. Maxam makes a knife that has a 6-inch blade. I bought a BOX of them, hoping my wife would use them for cutting and weeding around the yard (instead of my good CS knives). Well, she's still on her first Maxam and my CS knives are as purty as ever. (In fact, the Maxam knife she uses still locks up fine and can be sharpened to a vicious sharp...and while it doesn't hold the edge as well as better knives, it does get sharp -- which is more than I can say for all of the Böker Magnum knives with 440A blades I've ever bought. You can just sharpen them all day long and you still don't know which part of the blade to work on they're so dull. So at least the Maxams, with their 420 blades, sharpened up much better than the blades on the Magnums.

Bottom line: The Cold Steel knives are tough, strong, purty, reliable, relatively inexpensive, and they have excellent heat treatment, making their edge retention as good as it can be.

They've made some bad choices this year, but I bought plenty of the ones I liked before they were discontinued or went up in price.

I don't apologize for liking them just as those fellers who spend a bunch of C-bills for their knives don't apologize none.
