There are a few , a couple in Henderson ( me - but I am still a "rookie") , one in Pahrump , Art Washburn out in Pioche , and I believe Devon Thomas's brother is making damascus here in town too.

John is being modest... You would be doing pretty good to hang around and get some tips from him..;)

Hello:

Dr. Jim is up in Henderson basically at the end of Warm Springs Road, He's somewhat of a "hermit" as he is very busy, especially now as he is cranking out as much stuff as he can for a month and a half long show in California...boy thta man can produce when he wants to..

If you want to get in on his "good side" show up with some clamato juice and tabasco....

Anyway he has really shown me a whole lot in the times I have been over there. Right now I am working on hammer control...

John T,

Maybe one day you will allow me to drop by and watch you work.

Shoot me an email , my shop schedule is hap-hazard , shop time is not as frequent as it once was. If the kids even mention going to the gun club or archery range , the shop gets locked and we pack up and go.

Most of my time out in the shop is on the weekends , and some times Friday nights.

John, what gun club do you go to?

Do you know where the "Month and a Half" Show is in California? If it's fairly close to me I'd like to see that.

In answer to your question..it's not "just" a knife show..it's that Renaissance Faire in Irwindale, California at Santa Fe Dam right off the 210 freeway and Irwindale exit.

Poor guy is killing himself making everything he can. I popped down to his place last week and he's running ragged... That show runs for I think 4 more weekends or so... The good Dr says that show keeps him busy all year long with orders and stuff so...I guess that is a good thing. I will say the man does some amazing work, Especially with the welded European stuff and the Japanese stuff he made, man those things are scarey sharp....

Jason

Jason, Thanks for the location. I was hoping it was up north somewhere. We do have a Renaissance Festival up here north of San Francisco. At least we used to. Have'nt been to it lately. I do go to the one near Apache Junction, AZ. Someone has a nice display of knives and swords there.

You're most welcome..

Yeah that fair down is So. Cal is keeping Dr Jim very busy. Boy that man can really make a lot of stuff, but with his set up, knowing what to do with what, makes the difference.

I will admit that I was a bit shocked when I I first saw his shop[..He really doesn't have all that much equipment..just a couple of forges, a couple of grinders, a press, a power hammer and a whole lot of hand tools....I guess the old saying "It's not the tools, it's the craftsman" holds true...

He has shown me a whole lot...that's for sure..

Ken , anytime you are in the Vegas area , please call , I would very much welcome having you over for shop time and dinner :)

Man, I wish I knew how close you all were. I just spent the week in Vegas, for work, but from 3:30 on was my time. Unfortunately, I just returned to Sacramento...
Oh well, maybe next time...

Hey John, maybe we should try a group "get together" again..before it gets HOT...what do you think?
