Las Vegas are knife makers

Hey John, maybe we should try a group "get together" again..before it gets HOT...what do you think?

Brad

Brad,

It was great to meet you and I'm looking forward to meeting more Las Vegas knife folks. We'll have to get in some range time, too.

I would certainly be up for that bud !

Heck I might even have something finished to show , I have 8 that are getting fit up for scales now ( I started ruff fitting the scales before the hand satin work begins ).

Dave...I very much enjoyed the visit also and your handle making skills are dialed in, not to mention all the other things you can do. I think you could knock a blade out without too much drama after seeing some of your other projects!

John, (you need to check out some of Dave's gun presentation boxes:)) I say lets go for it. I'm up for a meet at a local place or a mini grind in / social gathering either one.

only day that is a definite no go for me is 2nd Sunday of the month until 2 (subgun match ). Otherwise during the week after 6 works or whatever on Sunday.

No prob doing it here in Henderson at my place , shop is a total mess right now , but it's my mess :)

Kinda quite out there.....John, pick a day that works for you (any weekday after 6 sounds good or a Sat. if I had my pick :) ) and lets do it!

I will be there.....thanks for letting us intrude...I will bring a shop warming gift!!

Brad

Warming ? Bud , its May , it will be plenty warm :)

Who ever comes , be sure to bring a blade or 2 to show around , I will do my best to have something done , and the shop somewhat clean ( at least the shop bathroom ).
:)

Cops? Are there gonna be cops showing up? Nobody said anything about cops.

;)

JS:

If by "Jim" you mean Jim Hrisoulas, the good Dr. is retired law enforcement..From what I know some 32 years with the Feds (DEA I think) and military law enforcement as well..( he is a retired colonel from the Nevada Guard)...he is also one serious arms collector..(the man has a gatling gun in his office...) and really knows his stuff about edged weapons as well as rather strange firearms...He has a really NICE Thompson..

I doubt if he will show up anywhere he is not invited to, besides he's in the tail end of that fair down in so cal for the next three weeks..that and the fact that he is somewhat of a hermit and likes to keep to himself, which is OK with me..He's just a quiet, low key sorta guy.. Great man and an excellent teacher, I know he has shown me a whole lot of stuff...what that man can do with steel is simply amazing, especially with damascus..well, the man wrote the books after all...

No while talking to Dr. Jim at the antique arms show he informed that a local sheriff had started to get into knifemaking. He thought that both of them were the only knifemakers in the area. Besides if he's making knives he has to be one of the good cops, right?

JS:

Oh..well I have no idea about who he is referring to...I will be popping down to his place tomorrow just to see how the old guy is doing, if I remember to I will ask him, his memory sometimes isn't as good as it use to be since his stroke but he still is fully functional, so that is a very good thing indeed.

The good Dr has really shown me a whole lot, and I lucked into "finding him" when he was in the middle of his fourth book, so man alive, the man is just amazing and so low keyed about it too. I ask him what this is and how you you do it and he usually says it's "just steel" and "steel will do what it will do" and all you need to know is how to make it do it...

Our get together turned out great. All ya'll who didn't make it missed out on a nice time. I learned a lot about grinding blades. (thanks, John).
