Laser Strike Mk 2 countdown!

nice, i've liked the look of this knife since i've seen it. look forward to picking one up.
hope the sheath stays in the same style, cool design. firesteel loop! well maybe a molle back?

What can this new knife add to your line-up that isn't already covered by the ESEE3 through 5?

Probably nothing. But get real. What can any of our blades do that I can't do with a 15 dollar machete? Man, this whole industry is about 99 percent bullshit. We don't need all these knives.

not sure what this knife brings that the 4 or the 6 doesn't cover already? honestly i'd like to see a "bushcraft" type knife from esee - ~4" blade, no choil, rounded handle (on the side instead of flat), scandi grind...think of ray mears' knife with esee's affordable price.

i just bought a bushcraft knife for $150. i would've rather spent that money on esee if they had a similar type of knife honestly.

Read my post two posts up from yours :D

when the LS is release it will cover a small gap between the 4 & 5
The 4 is great wood bumming blade, the 5 is a brute but for me the saber grind keeps it in the car more than on my pack while hitting the trail plus the 5 weighs 1pound.
The LS will give me a 5" blade at 3/16th with a great blade design and a bow divot is a plus. the LS once released would prolly replace my 4 as my personal wood bumming around blade.

We get all wound up about needing a certain knife. Sad reality is very few of us depend on a knife every day to do harsh things. Those that do, rarely carry high-dollar cutlery. Here's one of my photos to demonstrate my point:

We simply sell knives becasue people buy knives. But to tell anyone that our knives are exactly what you need to survive, kill, whatever would be total and complete bullshit. This industry is built on bullshit. I buy knives just like everyone else. I buy a lot of them. But I have never believed that a certain knife would be the end-all for my situation. Man, to hear some knife companies talk, their shit is the only thing that will keep you alive in combat or wilderness survival. Again, it's bullshit. This whole damn industry is 99 percent bullshit. We simply make and sell knives because people like us like to buy them but if you want to survive then learn the skills first. Then you might find that 15 dollar machete is really all you need.

So TOPS made the original Laser Strike? That's interesting, did TOPS make any other old-school ESEE/RAT knives? I presume Rowen will make them when you start making them again right?

I pretty much agree Tony. I’d hate to say anything will ever “replace” my 4, but I could see myself getting a lot of use out of this knife in the woods.

I always said I’d like to see a 5 with a 3/16” blade and a choil. I think this will suffice. :D Looking forward to seeing the final product.

What’s all this “need” talk? All I really “need” is a $12 Mora Clipper. These are want items.

Now if we are talking wants and likes, I’d LIKE to see a very similar 4” no-choil version bushcraft blade along the same style. Lots of cool stuff I’d LIKE to see but I’m not the one responsible for anything other than clicking Submit Order to Dale at TKC.

BTW, Jeff wasn’t Laser Strike the name of your Rush tribute band?

Rowen will make the new Laser Strike. Tops made the original Laser Strike. Greco made the original RAT skinning knife.

Heh I knew that knife sounded familiar. Looks like I still have the article!

Jeff how long is the handle of the Laser strike compared to the 4? I have always been worried that the 4's handle will be too small for my hands. Btw if you are bring back some older models how about bringing back that TAK that I've been begging for for a couple of years now;)

We don't need all these knives.

No doubt. But "need" got nothing to do with it.

Still, would be kind of sad to see ESEE follow TOPS' lead - that is, 80 different gimmick knives that all pretty much do the same thing, just to squeeze every last dollar out of the market.

But I guess that's business.

We don't need all these knives.

very little of what I own is out of "need" for that specific item.
almost all of it is mine because of "want" -- and I want one of these.
:D

If
ESEE made a TAK mk II, I'd own one of them.... even though I have a 6, I'll probably end up with a Ritter/Becker -- and so it goes.
