Laser Strike Mk 2 countdown!

No doubt. But "need" got nothing to do with it.

Still, would be kind of sad to see ESEE follow TOPS' lead - that is, 80 different gimmick knives that all pretty much do the same thing, just to squeeze every last dollar out of the market.

But I guess that's business.

Surely you’re kidding or you’ve never read a word that Mike and Jeff have posted about their business philosophy.

Those that do, rarely carry high-dollar cutlery. Here's one of my photos to demonstrate my point:

He didn't skimp on the M4/Eotech. I guess the same logic doesn't apply to the firearms they depend on.

Not kidding at all. I appreciate their business philosophy and their products. As long as they continue to stand behind both, I'll continue to be a customer.

Doubt he paid for his own issue weapon and optics or the NVG in the bag.

Exactly. That was your US Tax dollars hard at work in Colombia that put those optics and M4 package together.

So what you are saying is since there is not a need for 80 different knives, you would be forced to buy 80 different knives just because we made them? Your logic, uh, is not logical. No one is twisting your arm to buy anything, so it should not matter how many models we (or Tops) builds. If we squeeze every last dollar out of the market it is only because you willingly opened your wallet and allowed it.

We simply sell knives becasue people buy knives. But to tell anyone that our knives are exactly what you need to survive, kill, whatever would be total and complete bullshit. This industry is built on bullshit. I buy knives just like everyone else. I buy a lot of them. But I have never believed that a certain knife would be the end-all for my situation. Man, to hear some knife companies talk, their shit is the only thing that will keep you alive in combat or wilderness survival. Again, it's bullshit. This whole damn industry is 99 percent bullshit. We simply make and sell knives because people like us like to buy them but if you want to survive then learn the skills first. Then you might find that 15 dollar machete is really all you need.

This is to be loved. :D

eotech...he/they did skimp on the optics otherwise it would be an aimpoint  okay, putting on my flame suit :p

I have about 8(?) knives and this is next on my list. After that, I want to try to buy some cheaper (in price) knives like moras and SAK's. But Im really excited about this one. Im going to have to figure out how to forget about it until it gets here.

I really can't talk because I'm running C-More red-dots on both of mine right now! Hey, they work for me but definitely not cool!

Ahh, but the key point you made is "they work for me" Screw being cool, dude. Use what works. I can't tell you how many "tactical" training events I've been to and literally laughed my as off at all the cool guy stuff on the ARs and all the cool tactical clothing and tough talk. It is ALL bullshit. Every damn bit of it. The only reason I ever go is to shoot photos for most of the ego driven fools that want to see how pretty they look in their gear. Also, sometimes they bring some pretty good looking wives so I spend mroe time hitting on their wives than ever trying to learn some bullshit tactic. I have my priorities in order. Bring on the white women and the hamburgers and now we're talking real-deal shit!

Looks like a TOPS knife, especially the thumb notches shape and placement as well as brass lined thong hole.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Rowen makes TOPS as well, right?

No, of course I'm not saying you're forcing anyone to buy every knife you put out (although certainly ESEE has it's own crowd of fanboys who will, in fact, buy anything you make).

I guess because RAT/ESEE has always had a relatively small line-up, I assumed it was deliberate - with a focus on quality over quantity, and without any of the unnecessary frills (or "bullshit") prevalent in the rest of the marketplace. All the bases are covered with just a handful of knives, and anything else is superfluous, a gimmick, or a decision motivated by greed, rather than any consumer demand.

On the other hand, more models means more choices. So even if I don't get it, this new knife may be just what someone else has been looking for. Hell, most people don't have a use for your clip-point versions, and they're the top of my list. Go figure.

Yeah the same guys smile when I show up to the range in street clothes with my "basic" AR, cheap ammo, and homemade targets. Not so funny when we pull the paper.

Do you bring your wife? Is she pretty? :D

I came over here from the big AR forum. Talk about a 180 in philosophy. My wife will be begging me to buy a Laser Strike compared to the other goodies I could be spending the money on. If I get a new knife to go build free shelters, traps and fires with, I’m not at home planning my next AR build. :D She might have married me, but she ain’t dumb!

I just realized, if the LS was $180 10 years ago, that's like $4k in today's money!
