How about something like this sparks? These are all vector artwork created in illustrator. I can do some different color variations if you'd like. These were done quick for an example. If you like one I can clean it up and give it some more detail. Thanks for the chance!

kniferman,
So far, I like the one on the bottom the best. I think the '.com' does not look appealing. I think it is obvious to most people that if it is a 'forum', then it must be on the internet. The .com makes it look more like an advertisement than a community in my opinion.

I might try my hand at doing a design as well.

my opinion is that it should contain a friendly looking knife, and not a combat knife.
i actually considered this but from a slightly different perspective, i worried that a sykes just screams british blade, also worried about anything easily recognizable being associated with a brand, i.e. Kabar, etc.
regards
Gene

I like the Fighting / Utility style blade, but the problem with that is that it's immediately associated with KA-BAR and while we do love our hosted manufacturers, I don't want to favor one over another. I'm loving a bunch of these designs thus far though!

Round 2:
Color/B&W

If nothing else, this contest has given me a reason to learn how to use Inkscape.

That is why I used a prehistoric stone-aged knife in my submission. I was thinking it would show no preference to any style or design of blade attributable to the living. (just as a note of clarification if any were wondering what that black and red blob in the logo really was). I was going after the knife as man's first manufactured tool as a theme.

I think either a stone knife, or something only a knife person would know...like a nessmuk style, or something even friendlier, like an open SAK (with all the blades/tools presented) I think something friendly to the public, but something that only knife people would instantly recognize would be perfect :D
