Learn to spot em! - Post 2004 Schrade Replica Knives

Actually, I believe that many of the U.S. made "nostalgia" marked knives were made for SMKW and others using "rented" trademarks owned by TBLLC and were not designed, comissioned, packaged nor sold by TBLLC.

Hmm, Thanks for the info Hal. Looks are one thing, as long as they don't "say" they were pre 1973.
How did their quality compare? I've seen the Bear & Sons Little Finger knives and wondered if they were any good? I have an original Schrade Little Finger.

Interesting Michael. I don't have any they put in the tubes, but Taylor is mentioned in some of them. I would like to read the exact verbage. Strangley enough, that part of the packaging is never shown in auction pictures... :confused:

This is a Schrade knife without "made in the USA" stamped on the blade.

That new Taylor import is obvious since the tang area is shown clearly. Obvious to me anyway since I collect the originals. Must not be obvious to the typical eBay shopper though, since they've bid that one up far beyond what it would cost brand new from a knife dealer.

Cal, and aint that a fact!The tube with the paperwork containing the words.."Used under Licence from Taylor Cutlery,LLC. The Ellenville N.Y. factory closed in 2004.Production of these knives was moved to Camillus,New York"..........never gets shown and indeed always seems to get lost when a post 2004 'Reproduction Knife' is being onsold........as genuine. We actually have laws in Australia regarding 'Truth in Advertising' which tends to curb this sort of stuff as there is some recourse.........my old Infantry Dad always had a saying 'Time spent in reconnaisance son is never wasted'.....Hoo Roo

Before I read further in this thread I checked out the auction for myself and thought post-2004 too although the handle colour on this one is a bit closer to real Schrade.

I am kinda shocked to see it sold for $76.00! I wonder how much Taylor charges for a crate of them? Just jokin but c'mon! CHA-CHING! Am I the only one seeing dollar signs and getting slapped by my conscience?

I am not tempted to rip off people in the least. Isn't it a pity when sellers can buy a new knife, throw away the package, lie about it's origin and age, and sell it for ten times it's value? One tin soldier rides away anyone?
 
It is a pity, Michael, and I couldn't fleece somebody like that either but the profit margin is pretty outstanding. Somehow I can't blame folks for trying. Buyer Beware. Not much different than what Taylor does in the first place. These bastard knives muddy up the collector market and never should have been made in the first place imo

MINT VINTAGE SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y. USA 1194 POCKET KNIFE

Here is a very rare new mint condition vintage pre 1973 Schrade Walden N.Y. USA manufactured 1194 double blade Trapper folding pocket knife with felt pouch. The carbon steel blade is embossed with "Everlasingly Sharp". Blades are factory sharpened only, no signs of use, very quick snap, factory bright steel and all lock up tight (no wobble) when fully opened. The yellow smooth delrin handles have no splits and are unmarked with no sign of carry. The nickel silver bolsters and shield are also in perfect unmarked condition. Blades measure 3 1/8" each in length while folded measures 4" in length. This knife comes with a felt pouch which has protected this very fine knife for many years as part of a collection of fine vintage knives.

And non valid Schrade Walden pattern numbers. Be very cautions of any new looking knives with the Everlastingly Sharp Etch on the master blade. It is a 293Y trapper and they never bladed a 787 like that.

Hal, regarding the 2 patterns shown above, "787" and "1194", do you have original S-W tubes for these patterns which you could post pics of the tube ends for comparison ?

I do, but Schrade did not make a yellow muskrat like that anyway with those blades or numbers. Other than that, the flaps look good. None the Taylor numbers match the old Walden numbers.
