?? Least Expensive knife you would trust??
(In a Wilderness setting)

You are going to be flown into a Wilderness area and have to hike out

You are ALONE

You can bring any knife you own(or would like to own)

How much does the cost of the knife affect your decision???

Would you trust your situation to a Mora or SAK??

Or does it HAVE to be several hundred dollar custom fixed blade???

or something in between???

THE QUESTION IS:

"WHAT IS THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU NEED TO SPEND ON A KNIFE BEFORE YOU WOULD RISK YOUR LIFE ON IT NOT FAILING IN A WILDERNESS SETTING"???

DO NOT JUST TELL ME WHAT KNIFE YOU ARE CHOOSING---TELL ME THE VALUE
I'll go first---

I would trust several of the Beckers or Ranger Knives I own not to break-as well as all of the other more expensive knives I own(I do not keep ones I do not trust)...

SO $60-80 IS MY ANSWER.

I would not trust a Mora-or any knife that was not full tang(I like the piece of mind they bring)

AND YOU?????

I changed the TITLE because so many people got the question wrong

I do not need the model of the knife--I need the price you paid$$$

Thanks

Here is PART 2 of the question)see post 69)

How little are you willing to spend on your boots???

If as the above man states -he would trust his knife to an $8 knife--

What would you consider the LEAST amount of $ you would spend on your boots--the ones you would be wearing in the same situation???

Would you trust your life to a $10 pair of K-Mart boots or do you want /need to spend more to feel safe>???

and ZERO is not an answer--

You can not spend nothing.

If the knife you like was a GIft or you Stole it--LIST the RETAIL price PLEASE

I DO NOT NEED the MODEL or MAKER

ands--------Are the boots more important that your knife????

I've got a buck nighthawk that I keep in the car, it cost $34 bucks at wal-mart 6 years ago.....

ESEE knife (any, don't own one but will soon) or my BHK bushbaby. I'd say around $100 mostly because I'd like a knife that is comfortable and with good heat treat. Those factors are what I look for above all else.

I love me a mora.. But as a part of a combination of tools If I could only take one knife the to get me throughI'd go with a 12 inch Tramontina machete witha convexed edge (10 Bucks)... Nest up would be a CS bushman (20 Bucks)

What I would choose if I could pick whatever I wanted out of my collection regardless of price.. My kabar bk7 (65 bucks)

Again=

read the question please

list the $ amount you would spend

$10,$5??

What is the least amount of $ you would spend on a knife YOU would risk your life on???

stating a mora is not an answer

the $ amount is the answer

That is the correct way to answer this question

and if you have his ability--I would wager you would get back home fine----with any knife

I could stand to live with a Camillus Air Force Survival knife. Have one I have beat on since I was 12. I have learned a whole lot with that blade and put it through a whole lot of abuse.

My Buck 119. When I was a kid I abused the heck out of mine, and I never got it to break. I`ve got a newer one I keep in my car bag in case of an emergency. Cost was $39.

ESEE-3,around $80.

I'd trust it with my life.

To answer your question $100.00 is the amount.
I have a question for you .Do you only trust 1095 steel knives?:D

Thanks
Hawkeye

Yet if you read the rest of it you'll notice lots of people have had zero issues abusing their moras.

Also note that at your price range ($60-$80) you could purchase 5-7 moras.

Define abuse Bro

and I would never trust my life to a knife a Boy could break

Mora's are the best $10 you can get--No Question

But I would never stake my life on one

Before asking your main question you ask others. I also think the scenario needs tightening up in order to answer it to your satisfaction.

Which wilderness? Jungle, arctic, northern forest, desert? How far am I going to hike out and am I allowed to carry shelter, food and other supplies, such as an axe, machete or snow shovel?

You are ALONE

You can bring any knife you own(or would like to own)

How much does the cost of the knife affect your decision???
It doesn't...I think you can buy both cheap and expensive knives that aren't very practical for outdoor use.

Would you trust your situation to a Mora or SAK??
Depending where I was yes.

Or does it HAVE to be several hundred dollar custom fixed blade???
No, it doesn't HAVE to be.

or something in between???
Possibly

My answer is an ESEE3 because I have one, and it cost me £100. But I would be happy using a £10 Mora or my £25 Wenger.

Also, for every broken Mora I'm sure we can post a picture of a broken full tang knife. So I'm not sure what that proves...

Not sure where you get the 1095 from

Neither of the Beckers I have is 1095-and the Ranger is 5160

I have a few knives from 1095--but 90% of mine are 5160.
