Let’s see some Bark River knives!

Bark river makes great knives, and thats what I care about. They have never given me any trouble, and Ive used them for years. I have used their customer service once to customize a knife and they went above and beyond for me. I like the convex grinds and handle materials, as well as the quality. Personally, I have zero qualms about BRK (or Blackjack or whatever).
As far as controversy goes, I could care less. Mike Stewart employs Americans and is a fair employer. Nike, Apple, and a million other companies employ what is essentially modern slave labor to make their stuff but yet no one cares. He might rub people the wrong way, but in the grand scheme of things hes a lot better than most.
Anyway the thread doesnt need more arguing about Mike Stewart, it needs more sharp and pointy! :DOnce I figure out how to put photos up, I will add more sharp and pointy, but the site keeps telling me that photos exceed maximum posting size or something.
You need to reduce the size of the photos and they will post easily with the gold membership. There are some free online resizing programs. MIR is one of them.

I have been very happy with BR's A-2. It is my favorite steel!

Looks like you use that one. I have a 1-7 too. It is one of the few 7" knives I consider practical for woods carry due to its slimmer blade.

BRK Custom 7" Bowie 2016 limited edition
For a 7" knife this one has become my first choice.
I got it 4 years ago and no reason for regrets.
It often follows me on travels in the pack.
I mostly use a smaller knife, but when a big knife is the right tool, this one comes in very handy.
The overall balance of the design parameters are very close to ideal to my taste.

Regards
Mikael

Yeah, Im not much for safe queens. I agree with you, I dont typically like big knives because they just arent very useful for me. Most big knives are kind of clunky and unwieldy, but my 1-7 is a joy to use. Its tough, razor sharp, perfectly balanced and the blade is slim and pointy. And mine has stacked leather, which looks classy and it doesnt freeze your hand when youve been out in the cold. I used the 1-7 a lot during hunting season this year but I didnt get a chance to use it on a deer. :( I dont like double quillion guards either normally but I dont find the 1-7 guard to be too obnoxious. Its just slightly obnoxious. Lol

Wow, thats a cool knife!

I have three Bark River knives in my collection - Bravo 1, Canadian Special and Gunny Sidekick - all in CPM-3V. I love these "Barkies" - super comfortable in hand, excellent fit and finish, top quality materials and super steels.

I am aware of some of the controversies around Mike Stewart but most of these threads/posts seem to paint a very one sided picture. Life isn't binary ;). Apostle P posted an alternate take on some of these controversies, which I felt interesting and worth a watch. Link

At the end of the day, from my POV, I don't have to fall in love with the maker to be able to love his/her product. I love the "Barkies" but at the same time do worry about some of the metallurgy statements made against BRK in some of these threads/posts. I wish BRK "clears the air" around these technical topics.

I just ordered a Bravo 1 LT 3V and reading all the negative comments about BRK it kinds of makes me a little uneasy to receive it now , i got a Bradford Guardian 4 3v and it is by far the sharpest and best production knife i have got and that was the reason for getting the Bravo is i wanted another 3V . Is there really that many problems with BRK or is it just a lot of overly picking people that cant be satisfied ?
I have read a lot of post here and over at the bushcraft forum and it is kind of 50-50 but some of the people are really bashing mike the owner and i was wondering if he has ever tired to back up his stance on any forum or in person .

I wouldn't worry to much about the knife itself. I've never owned one but read a lot of these threads and most the hate is on mike and not the knives themselves.

I have the aurora, kalahari thorn, drop point love less hunter, mini aurora and gunny hunter.. only the mini aurora has grinds that are obviously unacceptable.. The rest are not perfect but ok if you think sloppy semi custom craftsmanship is worth the higher prices for these knives. I do, as I keep coming back regardless
