Let’s talk about SOCKS

Really, you like the Bombas?

I’ve tried to buy them a couple of times but the wild gay colors always had me leave the site before I’d pull the trigger!

I want socks, not a rainbow flag!
I really wasn't sure if I should say it, but have you seen their ads that ran on YouTube all last year ?
They had these very gay looking " models " wearing their socks and dancing in a very gay way.
And the one where you just see the legs / socked feet is kind of worse because you saw the types of " models " they used before and are now left to imagine how much worse these ones are if they won't even show them.
They just have me associating their products with some weird off-putting imagery, and even if they were the world's best socks I wouldn't want to buy them because of it.

Over rated in my never to be humble opinion.

Lolz!
I saw one of those ads & it looked like the only thing they had on while they pranced around was the socks!

ya kinda have to figure who they're marketing to in that commercial...im gonna guess its not to you.....but I could be wrong😉.......

joking aside....ive seen some of their commercials on TV and they arent marketing to me...I'd guess fitness hipsters, millenials who dig on multi colored patterned socks and younger folks, and such. it is a sock company though and im sure they have socks I would buy and wear and arent bad, but the marketing and company name just isn't getting my wallet open......

Yeah they could easily just call them comfortable like I seem to remember from their first commercial, but they're marketing is weird now.
I don't get the marketing strategies of the past decade, but I have noticed a return with TV commercials a bit lately.

That kings Hawaiian commercial, or the latest liberty mutual commercials with the parent teacher meeting.
They're just TV commercials, but it seems like agendas in marketing might be fading and they can start putting the products and services first again.

Bombas just has a weird style or particular target audience or something that's not for me.

Thank you! I didn’t even know about the points. Good deal!
If you have an REI membership, you basically save 20% (member yearly dividend) if you buy through them- just an fyi in case you weren’t aware. They obviously won’t have quite the assortment of buying direct, but usually pretty good.

Darn tough are hard to beat. I have several over the calf pairs 10+ years old they’re finally getting thin around the heel so I can send them in for some replacements. I tried out camel city mill and have been very impressed plus they’re made in Winston Salem which is good for this Carolina boy.

Thorlo are from NC, and I used to buy them a lot, but the quality really took a dive imho. Darn Tough for the win for the last couple of years.

The last 2-3 years I've worn Point 6 90% of the time. They have lots of choices of length, thickness and cushion. They were the original owners of Smartwool which I first bought 20+ years ago.
Smartwool quality and customer service went to crap 5-6 years ago. Darn Tough were never as comfortable to me. Always tight in the ankle.
I do still have a wigwam or two and some other off brands but almost everything now is Point 6. I have a couple of pairs of original Kane 11 and they are pretty comfortable.
Merino socks are all I own now.

I'm impressed by all the support in this thread for Darn Tough socks! 😲:cool:
But I'm 74 years old and wondering if buying socks with a life-time warranty is worth it for a geezer like me. ;)

(FWIW, I've been a satisfied for decades as a wearer of Hanes black crew socks (back in the 1970s we'd have called them black gym socks). I got some new work boots last October that were rubbing a little, so I bought 6 pairs of Dickies "boot socks" (or was it "work socks") and they're nice - a little thicker than my usual Hanes.)
