I'm a flintlock hunter and appreciate all things 18th century, particularly anything leaning towards the French side. This is a replica french boucheron based off an excavated original from the french Fort Carillon (later fort Ticonderoga).

Dang, that's strangely attractive. Not sure I like a completely curved edge aesthetically, but I must give it a "wow".
They'd see use (and love) if they were mine. That top one is wow, but all of them are amazing.I just had to keep this thread from going into utter hibernation; these Remingtons will never see work in the field again but they were a force back in the day. Most of those old Remingtons had left hand sheaths. The right side was reserved for a handgun in a holster.

Thank you mate, he’s far from my biggest deer but he is the best with my flintlock.Nice red deer! There are a few ranches that have red deer to hunt in the US, but they are rare. I don't know anyone who has hunted them.
Very cool!!Man, love that knife, too bad Case quit making that model. My own favorite is a Grohmann No1, the Canadian belt knife. The design is second to none IMO, when I first got it my other knives quickly started to feel like crude sticks. The Grohmann is a meat-making wand, been using it for at least 15 years now and probably wouldnt be happy with anything else at this point. While nothing crazy, the steel is noticeably better than Buck 420HC. The Grohmann will quarter and de-meat a moose, needing only minimal attention afterwards to get it shaving sharp again. Any of my Bucks neededed a few touchups to get through a moose. The Farmer usually comes too.

Great stuff mate, you’re living my dream! Moose is a bucket list hunt for me, but it’s got out of control for non residents. I work for a Canadian company so hoping one day that leads to something.Man, love that knife, too bad Case quit making that model. My own favorite is a Grohmann No1, the Canadian belt knife. Always wanted to pick up a Grohmann, as I have owned two of the Herter's Grohmann knockoffs made in the 1960s, but I don't know by who. Ah...I have too many knives already.
Yeah, moose are my favorite. Elk and mule deer dont like to stray too far from development/ clearings, so you always end up with competition. IMO hunting big timber whitetail in rugged country is as quality of an experience as you can ever find, but the memories tend to get blurry over the years... every time I draw a moose tag I know I'm about to make a major life-memory.Great stuff mate, you’re living my dream! Good looking work knife there too mate![]()
For moose hunting, I presume.
I've always wanted one, and I'd actually use one if I ever get one. I had a 15" JE Middleton bowie before my house burnt. I didn't use it for skinning, but for camp chores. It wasn't exactly the handiest thing there ever was, but I really enjoyed it.
