:) It's finally over. My guy lost, but it's over. I campaigned hard for Kerry. I think he would have been great, but it's over now. I respect him for conceding honorably. Much better than the Gore debacle.

I didn't want Bush to win, but he did. That's OK. No point in whining about it. Bush IS my president, and his policies guide my nation. Therefore, I will follow him. I may not always agree, but a divided nation is not a healthy thing, and said division certainly won't strengthen America.

If I countered anybody with my opinions, let it now be done. All you Bush supporters, you fought a good fight and won. I respect you all for your ideas and conviction.

Especially on this forum, let's forget politics for a while. We're all still good people who like the best khukuries in the world! So, back to knives, smoke, prayers, and great conversation.

P.S. Who's happy that it's all over?!? !!!!!!

PPS. This message also found in 'Kerry Conceded' thread.

Well done. I was preparing myself for a Kerry victory, and to try and do as well as you are now.

I'm pretty much same as munk. I didn't vote so much for Bush but rather voted against Kerry's antigun bias. It's over, and I'm not about to gloat. Both candidates ended with too much mud stuck to them for my taste.

Agreed:) It's not like Bush is Darth Vader or something. Not everyone's favorite, but still a good man that has made some choices that I would not have wanted to make in these last 3 crazy years. it's weird how politics gets our feathers so ruffled. I mean, I for one have less of problem with someone who's religious ideals differ or contradict. Jew, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, etc. All fine choices in living your life if it makes sense to you, but when you get some yahoo preaching the political gospel it just makes my blood boil. Even if he or she is talking up my political choice. I just find the spin and speculation utterly stupid.
We're all friends here for better or worse. Things have gotten heated. Things have gotten ugly. A lot of this hostility could be placed squarely on the shoulders of the election year. That said, i guess we are out of excuses to be short and ugly with one another. As said by one of the wisest of we forumites said earlier, let us be very much like the Jeffersons. We all just got a piece of the pie. For some of is it is humble, for others victory. But hey, pie is pie.

We made it through, guys...bring on the UBDOTDs!

I think it's safe to say that the real loser this election was America.

I would have voted for Darth Vader over these candidates any day.

Yeah, Darth Vader is the only one who could have kept us safe from terrorists.

As any guerrilla would tell you its the opression what makes terorists. I havent noticed star wars trilogy free of terorist actions. :)))

Anyway, more interesting is to set up a question, what does tell Bushs victory about america today.
The answer is not very pleasing and maybe even frightening for an independent observer.

The man is very bad politic, he lacks the knowledge, as was proven more than once and his personality is disputable.

We outside of US do not understand that president election in US is mainly about inner politic (means what does president/candidate does directly in US), but we do observe mainly the internationall situation and on this field say it bluntly Bush failed without the question.

As much as I have respected his father, I cant say yes for this man.

What was the reason for Kerry´s loose?

Gentlemen, with the utmost respect to all of you as well as your opinions of both Bush and Kerry, i believe some of us are slightly missing the point of the thread. This thread is about getting past all of the things that we can no longer change because, like it or not, George W. Bush is the president of the US for four more years. Sure, get your jabs in. Neither guy was anyone's dream. Call bush a reckless cowboy, and call Kerry a flip flopper. Could we maybe just do it in the spirit of moving on? I personally have enjoyed all of the points of view that have been brought up by both sides in the last several months. Healthy and heated debate is what forged this country after the revolution. However, i think we have damn near beat this dead horse into glue. I know someone will probably be along to straighten me out for my post soon, but i just didn't want this thread to lose what it was set out to be.
Think of it as the aftermath of big football game where you have just spent the last 45 minutes trying to physically destroy the other team. BUT, at the end of it all, all the players line up, shake hands, get along, and get ready for the next time.
If i have stepped on anyone's toes, i am very sorry. I'm not one of the tough skinned guys in here looking for a debate. OK, rant over.

Thanks for your time, gentlemen
Jake

Steely_Gunz:

Great point.

Although, if other web sites start having in-depth discussions of metallurgy and wood vs. bone handles, we should have more political flame-wars here.

The sad truth is I'll bet from talking to most of you guys that the Libertarian candidate represents our views on gun ownership, taxes, and individual liberties better than either Kerry OR Bush, and yet no one voted for him. We are all so busy trying to fend off the _worst_ of the two candidates that we don't have a chance to consider the guy who would probably be the best.

It's too bad. I'd like to give a third party a shot at it at least once. Certainly could not do worse at least as far as the deficit is concerned!

Regards,

Norm

You are probably 100% right on the above.

So much for what might have been.

It's time to gargle with mouthwash repeatedly until most of the bad taste is out of your mouth.

To me today is a time to mourn what we've lost and look for what blessings we've gained. There's got to be a few blessings for someone out there somewhere.

I don't have a bad taste in my mouth.
The dirt wasn't mine. It's not on me.

I'm happy that it's over, Dayumed Happy!!!!:D At least for another 3 years and 6 months!
And remember guys all of us that voted for Bush wasn't necessarily a Bush supporter. Also remember it wasn't just us few that elected Bush as he got the majority of both the popular and electoral votes.
Actually I doubt that the total accounted membership of BFC had much influence on the way the vote turned out; we could have all stayed home with the same outcome, we just wouldn't have had a right to bitch about it later.;)

I've said since the beginning that neither of the candidates are qualified to be world class leaders and I truly believe that!
I might've voted Libertertarian had I of had the chance but Oklahoma is a backwards state in many more ways than just one and the only choices we had were the two primary parties.
As an interesting aside Leonard Peltier got somewhere over 21,000 votes running on the Peace and Freedom Party Ticket. I didn't even know Leanard was running as I haven't been keeping up with the other ndn issues besides the one's in Oklahoma.
But Hell, if he had been on the ballot in Oklahoma I might've voted for him instead as well.

Brad Carson (D) didn't win the senate seat here and for that I'm as sad as all the Kerry supporters are. I really felt like if we had a Republican president we needed a Democratic senate.:(
As has been said before, "The USA will survive the next four years as She has always done."
And always will, - I hope and pray!

Friends? You Bet!!!! If I can be friends with all you wierd assed people with all kinds of faiths and beliefs I can be friends with a few democrats.;) :p :D
The way I got it figgered is that no one here is anymore wierder than I am.:D

Although I am pretty dayumed wierd!!!!:D

Hopefully the next election will be run cleaner and on real issues instead of all the mud slinging.
And hopefully we will have some real leaders that are nominated to run for president whether Democrat or Republican. (I wonder if the people of the US of A could maybe have a voice in that?)

But by damned if Hillary runs and I'm still around I'll be damned and go to hell before I vote fer her!!!!:p

Thanks, Steely.

I'm glad to see things cooling off. Good to return to normal!!

Love ya, guys.
