Let's get to the bottom of Neck Knives !

 those are some beauties there chris....

i too prefer neck knives... i have a few:o the becker necker is also a good choice....

You have some real nice neckers there to!

Sometimes I think between the two of us we knockdown folks racing to one that's put up in the "For Sale" forum!

I have this Dan Frizee inbound from VCM3 right now, about 6" over all, in ATS-34.

that's a cool knife chris... i really like that one.... i almost nabbed it after he lowered the price....:o i'm glad i didn't i have 4 knives on the way....:D

Another vote for the Becker Necker! I really am beginning to like this knife. Its a good design, and very handy to have around your neck. I have had mine for awhile, but I am just now starting to use it more.

I don't often carry a neck knife, I only have 1 fixed blade so far :( but its small Atwood goblin that often hangs around my neck when I'm out and about. Its a little harder to explain fixed blades to the LEO's. But I like the goblin a lot - its S30V, chisel ground but sharpened on both sides and its thick enough to baton through some very small logs.

Theres a few feet of paracord wrapped around it-

great looking little knife... i dig those atwood knives.... i need to get one....:D

Ditto on the Becker Necker. I have had mine for a while. Haven't used it a lot but so far find it very useful and very well made.

I've carried a spyderco dragonfly as EDC for years. I am still getting use to grabbing for the Necker instead of the Dragonfly when out in the woods. ;) When I do though, I'm very satisfied. :D

Here's my necker. Made by Gene Ingram in S30V. It's called the Lacer. It's got an extremely thin profile as it has no scales but the lacing around the edges makes it amazingly comfortable to hold, gives it a good amount of grip and has lasted really well. This knife is two years old and the only thing that has happened to the lacing is that it has got tighter.

And here's a picture of the same type of neck sheath being worn. Notice the long extensions to the hanging braid. This is done so that the ends can be tucked into a belt worn on the trousers. This means that if the knife is being worn around the neck when not wearing anything more than a shirt, if you bend down the knife and sheath will not swing around in front or you as it is kept in place by the braid extensions.

My neck knife is either an M2 nimravus or the HRLM. When the Leaner meaner shows up I'll make a kydex rig and start wearing that one.

To me the neckknife carry position seems a practical, comfortable, concealed way to carry a good sized(4-5in) fixed blade when carrying on the belt is frowned upon. In this way I can always have the same kind of knife you would choose for general wilderness use with you at all times. It has an elastic chest strap so it doesn't flop around and you forget about it shortly after putting it on. On my torso something with an overall length around 9 inches or so works the best. I'll snap a few pics in a bit to show you what I'm talking about.

Please do I've been thinking about that for my Howler LM. Just not sure if I want something that heavy on my neck though. I bought a Becker Necker for my girlfriend and am kicking myself that I didn't buy two.

VERY cool! What is in the clear vial? And where did you get it? I've been looking for something just like it for a while now. Thanks!

I have a couple of SWAKs (Frost Mora 760) that I've converted to neck knife use, one in green and one in blaze orange. I hang them on 550 cord (joined with tape or shrink tubing to provide a weak point in the "noose").

I tape a match case that contains a spark lite and some tender to the sheath, hang a miniature flashlight on one side of the para cord, one of those whistle/compass/thermometer ditties on the other; even if I lose all of my other gear, I always have a good knife, a way to start a fire, signal and find my way in the dark.

It sounds really cumbersome to wear, but it's not bad at all--especially during November dear season when I'm wearing long underwear and heavy wool clothing. I haven't tried it in the summer with fishing/hiking clothes on yet, but I don't think it will be too bad.

Thanks Mike. I love the size of the vial, it looks so much more compact than the Bison Tubes and other clones floating around out there.

I purchased a timberline "pitbull" seems to be a decent knife for the money "$20" NIB and it is sharp and easy to re-sharpen and works well for fishing and what not .

A neck knife is great for hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, caving, etc. Especially when you are around the water - who wants to fish through wet pockets to try and wrestle a pocketknife out or have to stand up or twist around to draw a fixed blade from the belt? Besides, i like to wear light trunks without a belt around the water.

I've got a BM TK-1 Tether Knife that, in my opinion, is the ultimate neck knife. It is so light that you wil forget you have it, but the ergonomics are rock solid, and the thumb ramp on the back allows you to really bear down on the blade. I never understood why these knives weren't more popular - they are hands down better that a Spyderco Spot or Swick, both of which are quite popular.

I also have an A. G. Russell woodswalker with kydex neck sheath. It's a great knife for cleaning trout.

Just bought one today, and the CRKT neck knife was backordered, can't wait to see what they are both like!

I can see using or wearing a neck knife. When I'm trout fishing, I usually have clippers around my neck and a small pair of needle nosed pliers tied to my vest. The knife is the same deal. If you are using it a lot, the neck location is very convenient and you won't loose it.

The neck knife in the urban jungle is where I have a problem with them. Just a bit to macho for me.

I have a little Dozier Canoe model that would work extremely well as a neck knife. I'd still probably have a SAK with me though.
