Let's Have An Auction for Ray!

Hey, Can one of you guys give me the address to send a knife to. I tried to email Chuck, but not sure if he got it.
Thanks
Mace

Hey Ray,
Thanks! Will be sending a knife out soon.

You sent in a knife? Does this mean your back to making them already? Hope so.

How is everything going for you? Any new progress pics?
Mace

Hey Mace, I'm along ways from being up and running. The knife I sent to Chuck was donated from Gerome Weinand. It had come via the auction that Vintage Knives was doing for me. The owner of Vintage Knives sent me the knife cause he wasn't able to get it up for auction because of problems from Katrina.

As far as the shop and barn go I hired a fellow with a backhoe to clean up the mess. If the fire was left to burn itself out it would of helped out alot with the cost involved with the clean up. After the clean up was done I went ahead and got a pad built up so I can pour a slab. I ordered a Web Steel building kit last week which will take 6 to 8 weeks before they get it fabbed up and delivered. Yesterday I finally completed the list of what all was lost in the fire. What a headache that was. Since the list has been sent in I've already thought of a half dozen things that I should have gotten on the list. Lots of stuff to remember. I had over 30 years worth of my carpenter tools in the shop along with all my knife tools and supplies. Not to mention the farm stuff in the barn.

So far the only money I've gotten from the insurance company was for the heat damage to my p/u truck.

Here's a picture of what things look like now......

Ray
My sister got burned out of her and the bothers in-laws house a few years back a total loss, and was insured and a good thing..

looking back they lost a lot of stuff, but in turn they got a new start to do things a bit different if they wanted to and did,, other than the little things that are not replaceable and the torment of the fire there was a bit of a silver lining to it after all.
all the junk that they had just collecting dust and taking up room now was gone.. the insurance was fairly good to them ( at replacement value)
we can always put out some good from the bad..hang in there your on your way back and don't look back just to it all better this time.. :)

Here's mine, just went out to Chuck today. I can't do frontier/primitive as well as Ray...but, I try. Same with the pictures, thank goodness for Mitch.
:D

Fantastic work J. Your always coming up with some really cool and unique stuff. I bet that set creates a bunch of bids.

I just want to thank everyone who sent cash donations for Ray. I sent a cashier's check for $671 to Nick today. He'll present it to Ray at Blade West. That's an incredible outpooring of generosity from you guys and I just want to let you know how appreciated it is. You've all done a great thing for our fellow.

Several people sent e-mails saying the website was not easily viewed or navigated. Last night I tried fixing the problems. There were too many errors and characters that don't work with windows so I gave up. :(

Rather than trouble shooting I rewrote the entire website! :D

Please check it and let me know if you find errors. BTW, I never had any problems viewing the website with my Mac using Safari as a browser. This is why I had trouble shooting the problems.

Looks great Chuck. I had trouble with some of the pix being scattered across the screen but, I wouldn't have known what to do and I knew you would. ;) Great job on the site, thanks yet again.

Hello, Chuck

I see that you have not received my package yet as it is not on the site.
Hopefully, my humble donation will be there in a few more days.

I just added the link to the knife making site..
http://www.knivesby.com/knifemaking.html
listed as
*When Disaster strikes a fellow knife maker you can help out here, knifemakersupport.com*

Hopefully this thread wont disappear but if it does the link will be listed on the Knifemaking site for those that have it book marked..and those that find it though the engines.. :)

Ray,

Mitch has a bunch of knives for photography. The latest to come in have been photographed by Jessica. The knife you donated was sent to Mitch before Jessica started taking pictures. It will be on the website with a photo before the end of the week.

Ray is RAY, Chuck... ;) I'm Howie... Anyway, thanks for being on top of it. I'm looking forward to seeing how much we can help Ray.
Too bad I can't make it to Blade West, though.
Howie... at home... :D
