sweet some interest. ok now to get this small grp toghter im in sacramento myself. can travel either way. Old wolfe we have meet before about 2 years ago. you have a nice little area up there for sure. I also besides the forge can provide some 5160 thats in load shafts and some 52100, and some w2 for playing with lets brainstorm a spot to do this.

In Morgan Hill, have folks in Sacramento, would be great to get together with other knifemakers and not have to go back east to do it

Hi. I would like to attend. I live in Roseville. I have a small shop in my garage where I am learning to make knives by stock removal method right now. I don't have any experience forging but I have read a couple books about it, I've seen live demonstrations and watched instructional videos on the subject. I want to to learn to forge.
I don't have my own equipment. I would be content to just watch and learn if there is no equipment available for me to borrow.
I'll volunteer to host this event but all I have to offer is a two-car garage. My lawn and driveway are not level, so the garage is it probably the only usable space and it's got my knife-shop and some junk stored in it already. But if you can't find anything better, come on out to Roseville.

I would also be interested. I am pretty new to forging, but have a forge and an anvil that can travel. However, I work saturdays and have sun. and mon. off. I am in Jackson, just southeast of Sac.

Dakota... If you are truely interested in doing this there is a ABS MasterSmith in Visalia that you could contact. I know for a fact that he has done classes in Exeter CA (Cen CA) a number of times and has advertised this in Blade Magazine. His name slips my mind off the top but his work is featured in the '07 Blade book. Oh um Mike Vagnino (sp) is his name (just came to me :) ) I have talked to him on the phone and he is a nice guy, give him a ring. Ive seen his work btw at a store in Visalia, next to the W. Henry's Id take Mikes work...

Anyway I wish you (us) the best of luck in this endeavor, I think we need it!

at this point in time, with the current numbers i can do this in my backyard. shaded patio and a decent dinner table to lounge on. i can move equipment out back for this. What i can provide i have mentioned before. also i can move my POS grizzly griner outback also. ill plan on doing up some smoked salmon and maybe a tri trip or 2 on the bbq. my anvil is ok its older peter wright about 125 ish attached to approx 300 lb lead block. my skills are minimal so interested in learning any tricks. would love to see a demo on damacus making but without a press or power hammer be tough. also have 2 of ed cafferys videos can watch on hd 61 inch tv for any real newbies. Sunday anytime next month sounds good. reply to days/weeks that work best for all. Sunday be best for me since im in a summer school class very saturday till aug 2
